Spouses happy?

I am curious how people's spouses feel about them keeping a reef tank. I think my wife enjoys it but wouldn't care if we had a reef or not.

My wife knows it is that or I go out more often. Even with the cost of a reef, I think she knows this saves money.

My fiance is cool with it. I just let her name everything. She's also a geologist so she enjoys learning about the science of everything.

Hahaha, she suggested SW when we were in the fish store looking for FW fish... I think she regrets it, especially since due to already having the tank (and it being tempered), I had to go with a HOB skimmer, which is pretty loud.

On the other hand, she hates the lights and sound so much that she wants me to upgrade to a 135 and have a stand/canopy built. Hopefully I can make it pretty quiet .

my wife actually is pretty happy.. I tried a 20 G hex and I was able to keep it. Now upgrading to 40G breeder

My wife is happy - I used to have saltwater tanks back in college but had been out of it for years. She bought me a BC29 for Christmas one year and then I upgraded to a 90 within 6 months. She gives her input on what I add/change and seems to like everything that I've done.

It took a year and a total tank wipe to get my husband interested. I don't think he realizes that kinda caused the explosion in number of tanks we have. BUT it was his idea that we start buying everything we'll need for a 180g. All I could do was do my best to not squeal like a 13 year old girl who's best friend just told her a boy she liked was looking at her. [emoji7]

My husband wasn't too thrilled at first - but knows this has been a dream of mine, and I saved my moolah from a side job to set it up. Also had a friend get me a really good deal on equipment.
He is now loving the relaxation of it and enjoying getting into the techie stuff! He wants an APEX

My wife is all good as long as the tank stays clean and colorful. And my daughter gets to lean a bit about the ocean too.

My wife is good with it. She even forked over a bunch of cash to pay for most our 220 gallon system (something about buying her a diamond a while back). She is not really please with the spill over (nano in my office, frag tank being set up, etc); but really I doubt she actually cares a whole lot.

My wife originally encouraged me to get a saltwater tank, and now regrets it. She knows I love it so she doesn't fuss too much, but when it all boils down to it she would prefer it exist in our house

My wife loved my 90 gallon setup so much that she's planning on setting up her owe nano tank. I'm paying for it though. Doh

First step in making your wife happy with a Reef tank in HER house is get her involved with the tank some how. My wife has a say on what the tank itself looks like. That means she had to have a certain stand and wants the light fixture to not be really ugly. Also she decided on the size of my current tank. This is the first tank in our Patio home after we downsized. Before I had several thousand gallons in the basement. So in this house I had to start out at 40 gallons. This is not an easy task from someone use to a lot of tank space. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. In two years when I retire from work I get to do my big systems again.

My wife likes the look of the tank and helps pick out fish and coral. Her favorite are seahorses so once I set up a separate tank for them she was pretty happy. I was able to upgrade to a 350 gallon as long as everything fits inside the stand and canopy and all my waterchange equipment stays in the garage. I have an allowance haha so as long as I stick to that we don't talk about how much it costs.

I told her its either reef tanks or classic cars and bikes[she thinks shes getting off cheap] lol i just hope if something ever happens to me,she doesnt sell stuff for what i told her i paid or people will get great deals
