I used Seachem Reef Magnesium and brought it up gradually over about a week then maintained it for a week or so and let it gradually work back down. My hammers and frogspawns actually looked their best when it was around 1500 so I maintain 1400-1500 now on.

Fish will keep it in check but they won't get it under control if you have an outbreak of it.

Vibrant and patience... or is that patience and Vibrant

Wish I didn't have so many corals on my rocks because your scrub method sounds both satisfying KILL IT urge and FASTER...

My tanks get the most attention during the winter, now that the weather is getting nice focus shifts to fishing and golf. I still enjoy the tanks, but usually a little stir crazy about this time of year and great to be outside again:)

I'm new to the hobby and experiencing the recent heat rise here in LA. I try to turn the AC on when I can. Since chillers are a bit expensive, I opted for two cooling fans from Amazon. Only issue I have a fairly small pico tank (upgrading soon) and this thing is noisy, bulky and kinda gets in the way of the light. What are your experiences with this fan ?

Definitely spending less time micro managing the tanks in the summer months as others have noted, but moving up the road in July so the 100 and the 200 will get plenty of attention around that time even If it does get a little neglect in the next couple months

I open the windows more here in FL, higher PH is the end result. Also fix/maintain sump fans for the hot weather ahead.

So spring is here and the weather is REALLY nice (at least it is out here on the best coast. Ha!). Does that change how you enjoy your reef hobby?

I know for me, I am spending more time at my LFS lately. The nicer weather has me enjoying being out in the street more, so it's an easy decision to drop by my LFS, especially on delivery day!

How about you guys?
I would agree if LFS store have outdoor sidewalk sales, but they don't. LOL.
Going inside is usually Dark and away from the Beautiful Sun we have more of during Spring/Summer.

For me LFS store are more for the Gloomy Winter Days, not Spring/Summer.

Tanks and Tank Maintenance are much more interesting when there is nothing to do outdoors, or short daylight hours.

Spring/Summer has much more offer OUTDOORS. My tank's usually suffer during summer, and Automation is what keeps them running. During winter is when I prep the Tanks to be run on their own May-November..

This year we have to enjoy the Spring/Summer before another Lousy Dark/Cold and possibly Covid winter comes.

In AZ we start to head back indoors then tank becomes primary focus,,, Or people start to head out of valley to escape the heat,, Then tank well you guess it....

Means I can keep open window in fish room for about another month.
Also means I need to hurry up and figure out fresh air exchange and how to seal fish room up and keep temps stabil before I have to close fish room window before it starts hitting 110-115 degrees!
You must be in texas or somewhere here down south with me!

Mesa AZ. All I've done so far is seal room, open window and put a fan in it exhausting air in room. Water temps staying pretty solid around 76 so far with ceiling fan on. Think our hottest day has been 96.
Really need to figure out proper air exchange here real fast.
