Sps changing color!

I wouldn't worry about the shift to green. Corals often shift in color when moved to a new home. Provided that all parameters are in check, the coral should revert to its original color within a month or so. You are running LED's so your results may vary as I know that other reefers have had issues bringing out certain colors in SPS.

My experience with Yellow SPS is that they require intense lighting, clear water, and great parameters. I know that anytime something was amiss in my setups the yellow SPS were always the fist to shift in color. While it isn't desirable to have a coral shift in color, yellow SPS are great at indicating issues when they shift to green.

If all other corals are doing well then I would simply place color shift down to acclimation.

Good luck.

i recently purchased a few sps frags and when I got them they were bright yellow with red polyps and now the frag turned green. What causes that and what can I do the get it back to yellow. Thanks

From what I have read on zeovit, the issue can stem from elevated nutrient levels or high potassium and/or iron levels. You may have found these links in your search for an answer. Figured I'd post them for anyone else that comes across this thread looking for more info.

From the above pdf:

Pg 18, Potassium dosing:

"A very good indicator for dosing is yellow coral. If your yellow corals display a green shimmer, it is an indicator of over dosage of this product (or iron concentrate). When this happen, we recommend that dosing be ceased until coral colors become intense yellow again."

Pg 19, Iron dosing:

"The addition of iron primarily affects the green color formation. However, this element has to be treated with caution. Iron is known to increase coral growth, but also the growth of algae. You can see the same result in the density of zooxanthellae in coral tissue. Darkening of tissue suggests too much iron is being added. As an initial dosing regimen, we recommend 1 drop per 25 gallons daily. This dosing amount and interval should be adjusted accordingly. We recommend using yellow corals as indicators. Stop dosing when yellow corals display a green shimmer. Stop dosing this product (or potassium iodide / fluoride concentrate) until yellow corals become intense yellow again. In most cases, dosing twice weekly at a rate of 1 drop per 25 gallons should be sufficient. (Another indicator that your corals lack iron: red acropora turns pale pink and green acropora turns yellow.) This supplement can also be used in tanks not using the ZEOvit® method."

Hope this helps.
