SPS color fading

Here is my current lighting schedule with the peak intensity settings displayed. I’ll have the local club PAR meter next Tuesday.

Just chill on the vibrant I’m sure it has been clearing up that algae and now the bacteria is able to get a handle on nutrients.. nitrates will continue to drop if you continue dosing vibrant. Continue regular feedings and wait for your levels to slowly climb back up. If things do get worse you can dose nitrates back up but it’s risky if you don’t have the proper dosage, then you will be going up and down.. just let things get better naturally and be patient.. it will take some time.. also because levels are dropping your lighting can be paling out the corals too.. just take things slow and things will get better.

I do not dose carbon or use GFO, I have only a skimmer and a fuge and on more than one occasion drove nutrients so low that coral died. I actually have to dose to keep nutrients up at an acceptable level. Many people share this experience.
You are making a very generalised statement here that many will disagree with. You speak as though traditional techniques were perfect yet on average the reefkeeper of today is far more successful than ever. This could be due to better quality lighting/skimmers/test equipment or any number of other factors.
I will not risk the health of my coral just because I may end up with more algae, I will get off my *** and begin pulling the algae out by hand if I have to.
Hi, could you tell what you use to manually raise you’re nutrients please?

Same here, my po4 is at zero and feeding more doesn't raise it. Only skimming and water changes, no carbon or go.

What are you dosing to get detectable po4?

Hi guys sorry for the very late reply. I dose trisodium phosphate. It is very very cheap on amazon and you hardly require any...
0.2grams mixed into 100litre aquarium will raise the PO4 by 2ppm!!

Here is one for you guys...
I was recently “informed” by a member on this site that it is impossible to bottom out PO4 to the point where it would be detrimental for corals, without using GFO or dosing carbon. He apparently believed that I have bad husbandry/ don’t understand what is happening in my tank.

I disagree as I have noticed a diff.
