Hi everyone,

My tank for months had explosive sps growth. Everything seemed so happy. I could see the difference in the size of my sps from week to week.
But, seems all good things come to an end...
I keep a very tight watch on my water parameters and I can confidently say I have not had any major swings in months.
For about the last 2 months my sps growth seems to have stalled and the PE seems to be less than it was before.
I’m at a loss for what might be out of whack and has caused growth to stop.

My tank is a 30gl waterbox
I perform a 20% water change ever Saturday or Friday if I will be out of town for the weekend.
Radion G4 Pro on AB+ Schedule
(3) MP10s on reef crest mode

Water:
Salinity: 34.9
Temp: 78-79.5
Ph: 8.3-8.5
Dkh: 8.9
Ca:434
Mg: 1400
Po4: .05
No3: 2
TDS on the RODI is zero

Dose daily with KZ Phols Xtra and every other day with KZ amino acid

Livestock:
3 Chromis
1 coral banded shrimp
1 six line wrasse

Please let me know what I may be missing and why all my growth has stalled.

thanks!

Has any parameter changed recently? Changed anything over the last 3 months or so?

Also 500 ppb (0.50 ppm) PO4 is impressive. Has it always been that high?

Sorry it is .05. I corrected it now. Consistently.05. Much more normal.

Then since the alk and Ca are still being used, the corals are still growing.
You would think. I’m getting stuck on this too. I’m wondering if the coraline algae is sucking it up. Sps really have stalled.

So a quick follow-up. Since my post last week Saturday. I have had one sps go RTN overnight and another I noticed had started this morning. I am debating fragging the one that just started to hopefully save it. Would you?

I have checked the entire tank for any signs of rust. I found nothing. The temp has been a steady 78-79.5 and I have not changed the lighting in over a 8 months. I have also not added anything new.

I did a 20% water change on Wednesday. Debating doing another today? Would you?

I ordered an ICP test. That will be here tomorrow.

Here are my current water parameters as of this morning.

Water:
Salinity: 35.3
Temp: 78.7
Ph: 8.1
Dkh: 9.1
Ca:421
Mg: 1400
Po4: .05
No3: 2
TDS on the RODI is zero

Dose daily with KZ Phols Xtra and every other day with KZ amino acid.

Please let me know if you have any other ideas on what could be making things so unhappy!

It does sound like a contaminant to me, I think that ICP test is going to be crucial. Did you check every magnet?

The only thing I can think of that I haven't checked is an electrical issue. I don't have a volt meter to check the water. This seems unlikely though since I checked all the equipment for rust and it all seemed fine.

We have been using Red Sea reef energy plus coral nutrition the AB+ one. It has helped ours tremendously.
