So few weeks back I picked up what they called a starry night acro?? But as you can see in pick the bottom is turn green. I'm new to sps so not sure if it's dying or this is normal. I have seen other corals that turned white when dying so wasn't sure if this normal or a sign of dying. If anyone has any input on what I can do if is dying that would be great!

Looks like some slow tissue necrosis to me. Is your alk stable and what is the value, and how are you maintaining alk and ca levels?

Alk stays around 8.2-8.5 and cal is usually 460ish. Also dose kalk in my ATO.

What type of lighting do u use kinda looks like it's changing colors where no light would hit it

How are you testing alk? Was this a wild piece, or maricultured, or aquacultured?

Peeps I purchased from told me today it's suppose to be green brown just means it's been ticked off. Not sure it that's true or not.

It looks like there's a good possibility it has a pest on it. It's definitely dying, and probably I'm guessing was unhealthy when you purchased it. Was/is it on a rock/concrete looking base or a plug?

You will need to give us a detail of your system, parameters, dosing, how are you dosing kalk, where is it placed, light settings, etc if we're going to figure out if you were doomed from the start due to an ill coral or if something in your system upset it.

Was on a plug when got it. Them mounted straight to rock.

Does your that's a lot of Kalk. Does your ATO go into your sump on the return side, and was your return pointing at that coral by chance? I'm guessing if you monitored pH you'd see a large swing depending on how much your ATO feeds and how fast.

Outside of that might have just been unhealthy. Did it look similar just all brown when you got it?

That's half of what brs recommends dosing they say 10 tablespoons. And yes ATO goes in on the return section of sump but no the return isn't pointing at Coral.

Interesting. Probably just a sick from the start coral IMO or infected. Instruct for eggs and pests. It would be unfortunate if that just contaminated your system.

I only say that's a lot of Kalk based on how much I used before my reactor with a bunch of SPS going, and also have a pH meter (not apex) that I monitored manually when it was dosing and the pH swings were tremendous with just a tablespoon or two in 5 gallons. Not saying what you're doing is wrong.

It looks like it was already receding. Probably not your tanks fault, just not hardy enough to handle the transition. Could be lighting but likely both after seeing the pic.

It's always good to start in lower light and work your way up to mounting.

This screenshot looks like tissue recession. Red arrow tissue border and purple arrow skeleton.

You think just cutting off top and mounting to a plug would save the tops?
