Starting to Dose Nitrate

Yea, I should note i was assuming the container is sealed like mine. I get very low numbers from my ro container, but I am consious about contamination so I can rely on them.

I need to put a lid on my tank. Hmmm

That sounds like a good April project. I wanted to do acrylic tops, but I think I will go the cheap plywood route. Painted plywood looks great, right?

@Russ265 great thread - this has helped me a lot!! Ever since I've been maintaining my nitrates at 2-5 and a trace of phosphate I've had amazing growth and colour out of my SPS. This birds nest is a classic example of growth in just 3 months

That said though, hair algae seems to be harder to control now - what do you do to manage hair algae?

Heres some more pics of my 6month old TMC 900 - I plan to upgrade later in the year when we move into a new house, but want to get the basics nailed first...

This has been my experience as well. I have now been running with undetectable phosphates with the hanna phosphorus ULR, and while my other algae has stopped in its tracks, hair algae seems to be making ground. I am not sure if I should stop dosing nitrate, or keep going, but for now I am continuing at least a bit longer.
