Steelers4life Shallow Tank Build

Tap water won't hurt anything. Would be better if you used RO or at least rinsed everything with RO after the tap water test run.

Friday is the big day. Im picking up my dc 9k tomorrow. Ill seal the inside of stand today and hopefully add water sunday for a 3 day test run.

Stand and canopy are complete. I waxed the outside and polyurethane'd the inside of tank. I aldo added another coat of paint to the back of tank. I started on the plumbing. Still nred to get 2 ball valves for the return lines. Im going to plumb and start the test run tomorrow. I might even build my scrubber... we'll see. I had some left over materials, so I built a stand for my rodi barrel. Im hoping to plumb rodi unit into laundry room once this tank build is over.

Well return lines are complete. I stubbed out for my scrubber and for a future reactor. I need to pick up spa tubing to plumb overflow. Ill do that and add water tomorrow. Its looking really nice. I had to add some 90s to the return lateral line to clear the overflow pips. That the reason for u turn plumbing.

You might run into a flow problem with your return setup. The longer return will have a reduced out put compared to the short side. I would suggest a ball valve to even it out... That is unless you want it that way.

Last weekend I got my pump and started a water test on Monday. I let everything run for 2 days. Today I drained in preparation for tomorrows transfer. I tried to upload a video but didnt have luck. Any hints... I have everything laid out for tomorrow. Holding tanks, jugs, 35g of saltwater mixing. Canopy and trim are waxed and ready. More photos to comr.

Really enjoying my tank. Everyone seems happy too. In going to paint the second coat onto doors today and hopefully install tomorrow.

I traded a friend one of my par 38s for his reefbreeders sump light. Im liking the red and purple effect

I currently have a yellow tang, some chromis, 2 skunk clowns, red flame hawk, 2 wrasse, and a lawnmower. Im going to add a goby shrimp pair, a mandarin, and another tang. What tang would you guys recommend?

Tank is complete. Its been running for about 3 weeks. Everything is opening nicely. I did notice some algea growing on sump walls. Im wondering if its due to my lights being on 24/7 or is it the reds on the reefbreeders led... im planning on cutting slit and installing plastic mesh for scrubber this weekend. Here are a couple updated photos.
