Stocking 10g

I can get a 20 then if so what fish would you recommend then
Most common nano fish are clowns, royal gramma basslet, gobies and smaller blennies! Damsels are also an option.

Yeah they are, Ive got a few in my tank that bigger fish have put in their place and they are chill. Dottybacks as well! If you add them last you probably would be good. They are super colorful and I took the chance. Firefish gobies are beautiful too, just dont do damsels and stuff with them they are shy!

also do protien skimmers work as filters?
Yes, most are too big for a 20 gallon and usually need a sump. They have hang on the back skimmers that would work though!

Nah youre good, happy to help! And no special requirements for clown gobies. Mine lives in my wavemaker with a blenny actually! And for sure will!

The best and coolest nano fish you could do is a watchmen goby, also called shrimp gobies, and a pistol shrimp pair. They form symbiotic relationships and thats a very cool thing to watch in your tank!

In a 20 if you did a clown pair and a watchmen/shrimp you could probably add one more small fish (small damsel, dortyback or clown goby)! Just need to take it slow and be very on top of water quality and testing

Bi color blenny is also an option (would not do more than 4 small fish in a 20). Fun personalities and they stay small. Mine lives in my wavemaker

In a 20 gallon no, your return pump will be good for flow and you can upgrade it to have one that points different directions. Wave makers are necessary for bigger tanks. Im setting a 15 gallon up now for coral and a clownfish pair and Im not putting a wave maker in that one, would be too much flow for the fish. But in my 6 foot tank I for sure need it to keep water moving

For the wave maker? No it just circulates water and oxygen for them. Corals on the other hand get tricky with that as some need low flow, others need high flow. Some need low light and others need high light

What would you put in the 20 with the clownfish pair and the yellowwatchmen goby and the blue legged hermit crab the yellow goby or the neon goby
Depends on the kind of fish you want in there! Neon gobies are very very small where as watchmens are a little bigger.
