Hello!

I was looking at a 55 Gallon Water Storage Tank:

Problem is that the shipping costs more than the tank itself!

Previously I used one of those 'Brute' trash cans to store ~35 Gallons of water but the trash can was bit flimsy feeling and I didn't really feel like it kept the water isolated/clean/etc.

What do you use to store your R/O water? I have a very limited space sort of utility room/closet I am putting this in - so something tall and skinny is better than something short and fat.

I planned on just putting an R/O float at the top of whatever I use and then a bulkhead and spigot at the bottom - possibly using a pump so that I can pump the water from the very bottom up and into my mixing buckets / carrying bucket to top off the ATO reservoir.

I just use a 32g brute and it works fine. Not sure about tall and skinny?

32 gal is as big as you want to go with brute for water storage.

Check your local craigslist for food grade plastic barrels. Guy a few miles from me sells 55g, 40g, and 30g plastic barrels that were used mostly for seasonings. They smell a bit, but they're very clean, cheap, sturdy... A gallon of bleach and some time in the sun will eliminate the smell. Way cheaper than buying a purpose built water storage tank, and even a bit cheaper than a decent quality trash can.

Eh I’m cheap and my tank is small I have 15 one gallon water jugs. It works for top offs in the sump lol. That being said I do plan to get something better.

I use a 55 gal plastic barrel. I got it from a Moving & Storage company $25.00. Their called “shipping containers” or shipping barrels. These barrels are air/water tight After 50 gallons, most containers are stronger, thicker, and can hold over 400 lbs. I use a pump to mix and pump back into the DT after a WC.

I found these on Craigslist, food grade 55gallon barrels for 10$ each. Made my own watering station

Can't go wrong with Craigs list but having said that I didn't go that route and instead went to Home Depot (or any other box home improvement store) and use a 44 gallon brute. Works great, food grade, and easy to clean. Only down side is they get you on the cost of the stand/wheels.

For now I picked up a 20 gallon pressurized tank (14 gallon capacity) which is decent. I will use 1/2” line for filling my buckets so it flows quickly. Once I have some time I’ll plumb up something nicer / higher capacity.

Rural king. I have two of the Ace Roto Mold vertical containers.

Bleach & rinse; vinegar & rinse; and lastly hydrogen peroxide & rinse = no smell. ;)

I’m going to build a wooden stand for the top R/O Barrel and put a pipe in the bottom with a valve to fill the bottom barrel with gravity.

I’ll then use the pump to mix the bottom barrel and to pump it into buckets.

Ordered a 50PX-X - 1110 GPH - PAN WORLD for the water handling system. By my math it should work well.
