Storing RODI Water - How I did it

Hi all.
I've kept my salt water in a 60 liter container capped in the garage with no issues. I actually checked all levels in the water prior to using it last night and it was spot on the mark. I think provided the temperature doesn't get to hot there isn't any problems.

I can use some help solving this issue. My RODI is in my laundry room and the container is in the garage. I bought 30' of murlok a long time ago, I'm currently using it to fill the container. It is ran under a few rugs and under the door into the garage. This option works fine, except it looks horrible and it's a trip hazard.

I want to run it through the wall, I thought about drilling a hole big enough to put a piece of 3/4" pc's through with some length to add end caps to seal it off. Reason being with this being cold water he lines sometimes tend to have condensation built up on them. I don't want this little bit of water to turn into an issue inside the dry wall.

Any suggestions and input would be great!

Moving on, I just hooked up the booster pump, should have done this LONG ago. I could have had this container filled the first night with the pump. It was kind of a pain to install and I need to cut the input line shorter, but I can tell this was a great investment. Not to mention less waste water!

where is your RODI? In order to go from my laundry room into my garage I'll have to drill a hole through the wall. The condensation is my concern, especially inside the wall.

Mine is in the same room as the tanks, it is right above my washer and dryer. It's waterline is run above the doorway as that's mostly a utility room.

If I had to run it to another room I would run a line up through a wall and through your attic and drop it back down another wall. Like pulling a cable line. You won't get any condensation on those lines if your water is a reasonable temp.

I live in a 2 story house, I'll need a lot of murlok to go up to the attic and come back down! Hahaha I always have some condensation, and with it now going into a hot garage I'd expect to see more.

I just ordered one of these tanks. What a great deal. Will order another next month. Do you plan on adding a float valve to it?

Brute 55 gal container with a float valve and a valve at the bottom for filling buckets. Stand is 24" tall

I have a 50 gallon blue drum poly drum that I use for my RO water storage. It has an arm sized opening at the top that i just keep covered with some black plexi. it is in my garage so the water does get warm in the summer and cold in the winter. I do not have pumps in it at all. the water seems to keep fine. I usually fill it completely and then drain it down as I do top offs to my tank and a water change. I always keep water on hand in case I need to perform an emergency water change or for some other reason. nothing is worse knowing you need to add water or do a water change and you have to wait 12 hours or more to make water.

Do you keep your RODI in the garage as well? I am about 3 hours north of you and the winters are brutal (My standards for cold are low! ha). I'd love to move my RODI into the garage and get it out of my laundry room. But I don't want to worry about cracking canisters or anything freezing up inside the unit.

Do you ever have to clean the RO/DI tank and if so, how do you get in there with the small hole on top.

There have been multiple people post containers, I think you are talking to me? This container has only been setup for a week now. When I received it it was wrapped and sealed tight and when I opened the top cap it was clean inside. I open the drain and spray it out a few times with tap water, I then sat it upside down for a few days to dry out. Since this is only storing water and it is sealed off I shouldn't have to clean out. I may very well rinse it out a few times a year.

The reason I ask is that I am looking at large opening graduated containers so that I can scrub and clean out if need be. Wanted your opinion.

I am sure you could buy a mop specifically for cleaning it. It's too tall to reach the bottom. If it got bad I would fill it with water and vinegar and run a pump in it, drain it and rinse with water. You shouldn't have to srub it unless you plan to mix salt water in it. I've had reef crystals mixing in a bucket for a few days and it leaves a residue.
