Strawberry shortcake acro

I know it may very with each system but, about how long has it taken for this coral to color up? Mine came in brown and am just curious as to when I might start to see some color. I've only had it a week so I wasn't expecting anything this quick but the wife keeps tellling me, "You paid how much for that?" Its got great polyp extention though.

My frags came in very colorful. IME, color will drastically depend on your tank parameters. A lot of people put so much importance in lighting, I think too much. For instance, several years ago, I wanted to set up a predominately SPS 75, with a 6 bulb Tek5 T5HO fixture. Several people, including a respected LFS, told me that I'd never be able to grow SPS well. I went with the light fixture anyway. A few months later, I was about to admit that everyone was right. My corals were not coloring up at all. Then a friend sold me a used skimmer, that was an upgrade to what I had running. Within 3 weeks, my corals started coloring up very nicely. My problem wasn't my lighting, it was my crappy skimmer. During this whole process, I was measuring 0 nitrates and 0 phosphates. So the benefits of the better skimmer weren't really something I could evaluate, with tests.

Hope that helps.

i agree there is more to it than just lighting... flow is just as important if not more, and great water chemistry is also the key.. i run a ulns. and have no problems coloring stuff up it just takes a little time and once it does it will glow with in a week...just needs to get used to the enviroment....:) i run xm20k's with vho super actinic supplements...

Had mine for a few weeks, color sucks, but decent polyp extension. All other SPS in tank have awesome color, so hopefully this guy decides to color up.

funny - i've had mine for months and the color is (and has been since day one) awesome but the growth is snail like

I had my frag for a couple of weeks now. It looked great at the LFS under t-5's but as soon as i put it under the halides it lost all its color but it seams to be coloring up now.

So I have had my medium colony (4inchs tall by 3.5 inches wide 13 branches originally) for three weeks now but it has been through some stress, it has been cut three times so i can have pieces in multiple tanks and has been three tank moves since I got it...

I have mine located 14 inches from a 250w reefbrite dual arch bulb, runs 5 hours in 10,000k and 5 hours in 20,000k. It is now showing some color other than brown we will see.

Pictures taken under 10,000K lighting it has just a little more color under 20,000k

Looks way better than mine. Mine is still being referred to as the Strawberry Browncake, but it is starting to show some signs of coloring up. I am seeing more pink in it daily and it has good polyp extension so it should come around.

Mine RTN'd on the first day......Very unusual. Everything else in the tank is doing great. Parameters are all good. Beautiful 2 inch frag from Cuong, up in smoke like a match in a day.

I think mine might be getting some color. either that or I'm looking at it too much and am starting to see things. Anyone keeping this under T5s?

Anyone know where i can still get one of these?

Try unique corals they are a vendor here and selling a colony but you can asked if they have frags or buy the colony :)

I just got mine from them and looks really good

Mine was coloring up very nice but I just switched back to 10k bulbs to get some growth out of my frag displAy... I'll let you know what happens..

Troylee. I keepine under a 10k for six hours then a 20k for six hours and is growing nicely an it seems I get better color everyday. I will post new pics tonight for a weekly progression.

mine has been getting blasted since it was acclimated... high flow and about 6" down from the water surface.... it has encrusted nicely and colored a little but i swapped bulbs so im not sure what it's gonna do under the 10k's....

Here is mine, just got it today. Yes it's brown from shipping but polyps are already coming out. Been in the tank for about 6 hours

Mine did not make it. Polyps were peeking out for the first couple days but then no more. I guess that is what happens with fresh cut frag that are not given time to heal. I will not buy fresh cut frags anymore. It seems frags should be left to heal before vendors sale IMO.
