With all due respect this is not a true statement. It all depends on the individual reef...i can tell you my corals are not happy if my nitrates are below 5ppm, any my purple mag isn't nearly as colorful if my nutrients drop.

I do agree these numbers are not 100% but it is a basic guideline. If you are having issues with nems you should have some type of acceptable range to shoot for, Just like we have for a ALK, Salinity , Cal and ETC. Then we bend the parameters to fit our reefs needs.

I would think and ICP test should give your more insight to your tank. Looking at it anecdotally, it does appear lighting could be a problem, you can confirm this with a par meter...

FYI: Low nitrates and Phos
