Love bristletooth tangs. Hope yours does well.

Good luck!

You can transport the water because the live fish "proves" that it is not poison or some other substance
No way, I would have never guessed they would let you get away with this....but I can't bring my nail clippers (or maybe I can now, but who friggin knows....)

Just so you know where I live next day air delivery is as late as 8:30 pm so everything I get delivered is over 24 hours. Best thing is always keep them in the dark until you open bag and put straight into water with close S.G. and temp. do not drip acclimate you will have a quick ammonia spike and ph drop.

When I came back from Afghanistan we couldn't bring lighters because we could hurt someone, but we had our M-4s with us. Explain that one
I'm coming back from MACNA, been stuck in the New Orleans airport for about 7 hours due to Dallas weather. I was able to check some frags and a white tail bristletooth tang. I'm worried about him being in the bag for so long (will be almost 24 hours total). I'm suppose to make it to Dallas tonight by midnight and fly home tomorrow morning. I'm mainly worried about the fish. He's in a decent sized bag but it wasn't filled with pure Oxygen, just air. What do y'all think I should do ?

So, if I put a fish in my bottle of drinking water, I can carry it on? Might not want to drink it after that though.

Just curious, did you get a really good deal on that fish? Seems like a lot of hassle for a fish that is not that rare (don't get me wrong, I have one myself and it's my favorite). But usually you can get it with free shipping and guarantees from online vendors.

BTW - so glad you did not listen to the advice of opening the bag!

I paid $100 less than what they cost on live aquaria. So a pretty good deal. Of course I wasn't anticipating it being such a big deal getting home.

Sorry I did not read the whole post but they made it didn't they. Back years ago fish were in bags for 4 or 5 days there was no next day deleivery

OP here, the fish and corals all made it fine. Yes, I flew with corals and fish as a carry on. I wasn't going through Houston so I wasn't terribly concerned about Harvey.

I was a little nervous about carrying on the corals and fish and I had read mixed reviews. I got to the airport very early in case they made me check them I would have time. The TSA agents were all nice. They asked what it was, I told them a saltwater fish "like dori". They let me through with no problems at all in both New Orleans and again in Dallas. They did test the inside of the bag (i assume for explosives residue) but that took less than a minute and I went right through. Very painless!
Like Dory! I like that answer. I would have freaked out buying corals and fish and unable to take with me on the plan. And all along that I could not carry on. Hope all is going well for your fish.
