Stuck in airport overnight with fish

Made it to Dallas, the fish is still alive. The bag is losing some air inside, looks a little deflated. Fish seems calm but breathing a little heavy. I may get some amquel first thing in the morning and if he starts going down hill open the bag up and dose it to drop the ammonia. If he maintains his current state I won't open it. Thoughts?

Good job! Glad it worked out. It was rough getting out of NO last night. Many MACNA attendees sitting around the terminals. My flight got delayed and delayed but finally made it out. Don't know how I made it into work today...

I'm coming back from MACNA, been stuck in the New Orleans airport for about 7 hours due to Dallas weather. I was able to check some frags and a white tail bristletooth tang. I'm worried about him being in the bag for so long (will be almost 24 hours total). I'm suppose to make it to Dallas tonight by midnight and fly home tomorrow morning. I'm mainly worried about the fish. He's in a decent sized bag but it wasn't filled with pure Oxygen, just air. What do y'all think I should do ?

You were allowed to have a bag full of liquid with you to carry on??How did tsa not say no to that???

You might be shocked. A life is a life. Fd's use them all the time on dogs and cats.

If I'm in your shoes, I leave everything alone and hope for the best. Once you start opening the bag, you're asking for trouble, IMO.

OP here, the fish and corals all made it fine. Yes, I flew with corals and fish as a carry on. I wasn't going through Houston so I wasn't terribly concerned about Harvey.

I was a little nervous about carrying on the corals and fish and I had read mixed reviews. I got to the airport very early in case they made me check them I would have time. The TSA agents were all nice. They asked what it was, I told them a saltwater fish "like dori". They let me through with no problems at all in both New Orleans and again in Dallas. They did test the inside of the bag (i assume for explosives residue) but that took less than a minute and I went right through. Very painless!

@Dom I've used O2 on a turtle. It survived and a little boy got to keep his pet. Maybe it's a southern thing.
