I've been ordering my lined styrofoam boxes from Uline but there has to be cheaper out there. Any body have a better source?

I'm not interested in cutting styrofoam, just doesn't insulate the same. Thanks!

I love the U line ones. But they are pricey. Very interested if there is a cheaper way.

You can't beat the over 1" thick sidewalls but I just ordered some more boxes and it put a giant dent in my wallet.

Same here! I do check amazon and sometimes you get a great deal through them. But they are hit and miss.

Yeah, I was perusing Amazon too to capitalize on my free shipping with Prime but nothing I wanted to jump on just yet.

I’ve never shipped anything marine but when I spawned bettas I would get the styrofoam insulation from Lowe’s or Home Depot, use the #4 box and make my own inside boxes. It was pretty cheap cause the boxes are free and the sheet of insulation was not that expensive. Think it’s half inch thick? It works wonderfully well.

Thanks Ladymac!

I am not sure of the prices but you can check thermosafe.com.

Make friends with local vet clinic or 2. We throw away so many Styrofoam boxes every week. The lined Styrofoam, and Styrofoam coolers. Some are kinda big though. They used to have us ship them back with a return label but I don't see that happen anymore... I take them home when I plan to buy a new fish or go to a frag swap to transport stuff home.

If you were in DFW, I'd save them for you. Boss is a self described crazed recycler so he wouldn't mind.

So close! I'm in Austin! Thanks for the idea! I'm going to bug my vet!

Also if you have any colleges near you, check with chemistry stockrooms. They throw them away a lot
Awesome! I'm right by UT so I'll go make some friends at the chemlab!

Great ideas guys!

I agree with @LadyMac. That’s what I do. I wouldn’t use them in the winter as in my opinion the success rate isn’t always great. I do however ship this way in the spring/summer/fall.

It’s fairly easy and amazon sells just regular 8x8x8 cardboard boxed for super cheaper

That actually makes sense. I just know that cut Styrofoam is nowhere near that's great of an insulator as a full formed styrofoam box but in the spring and fall, I can reduce my cost by just cutting styrofoam.

Exactly!

I will be sure and save some for you from now on. I just tossed 2 that my pods and rotifers came in. I'll bring them with that tub I owe you. Small price to pay you back. May have to peek into that frag tank.

Awesome! Even better! Don't stare too long at that frag tank... You got a lot of tank to fill! Might get you in trouble!
