Look at coralife brand. Less expensive and mine does the job.

Reef Octopus is a trusted brand and used by many. I currently use the RO 152-s on a 90 gallon with a 40 gallon sump and love it. I do like the dc pump option on the coralbox skimmers though. Whatever you get just make sure you oversize it to your system and stocking plans. It really sucks to buy something and have to upgrade later. Trust me Ive done it.

I purchased an SCA-302 almost 5 years ago for my first tank. Since then I moved up to a 90 gal. tank with a 20 breeder sump abd it's still going strong. The only issue I had was with the piece that connects to the pump. The tip that connects to the air intake house snapped of while I was connecting it after cleaning. I called the company and they sent me 2 free of charge. That's customer service.
P.S. This skimmer has been running 24/7 since I had it. I only shut it down when I clean it and if I dose something that requires it to be turned off.

I'm a huge fan of life reef. i have a half dozen other simmers SWC's, Reef octopus's, vertex nothing works as good or as easy as my life reef. you get cheap or you get good but you can't get both. its the heart of the system. id rather have a good skimmer that i can count on. i have a vs24 and a large 48 inch model.

I have a vertex omega 150 in my 90 gallon. It doesn't seem to be pulling much out of my system but I might not have much to pull out. No matter what adjustment I make I can only get very watered down skimmate. I have had my eye on the DC Reef Octopus (Regal 150 and Elite 150) and the Aquamaxx. I cant find much out there about the Reef Octopus DC skimmers but they look great. The Aquamaxx has a lot of good reviews out there. You could do a Co-1 or a Q-2 for a 90 gallon.

Aquamaxx co-1 rocks! Going strong 3 yrs now on my 110. Set it and forget it. Very simple to use. Also have the sc-301 on my 60 cube and it is doing its job.

If noisy is not prio 1 then ok. Otherwise not. They Do they Job but a little bit noisy.

The vents of my Radions much more louder curve7 does a great Job

I'm in Tampa there is a few local stores here that have a few there is also some clubs on face book I'm in there is stuff all the time I just picked up a apex for a good deal

Get a Skimz at BRS , largest one that fits the sumo and is powerful , do not cheap out on a skimmer

Go to local frag swaps or you lfs usually someone will have some stuff they are selling from a tank they broke down or client decided to get out of the hobby. I picked up a gen1 bk mini for $100

I saw on eBay there was the terminator 2 raited for up to 300 gallon tank with out the pump it was 28$ I'm sure you can find a pump for a good deal that will work for it

I have the sca 301 as well. Pretty nice for a cheapo skimmer and their customer service is excellent!

I love my ASM. They are set and forget and skim like a work horse. I have an ASM G-3 and a G-4 both running on my 300 gallon reef. I've tried others and hated them.
