Sump ato problems.

Check the ATO for siphoning as mentioned above. Make sure the sump end of the ATO hose is high above the water line.
It’s way above it.

Based on what I read, you have an ATO that is siphoning once the pump is off. That is causing it to dump a huge amount of water into the system that’s causing secondary effects. You need to add an air break to the ATO outlet or use a pump that won’t siphon. Once that’s corrected, the rest of the setup should behave a lot better.
Well the ato pump seems to not cut off until the water in the bucket is completely gone.

Yes that happened with my setup. My ato reservoir is on the floor next to the sump and the end of the outlet hose was mounted lower than the water level (when reservoir was full) creating a siphon and dumping all the water in the tank. I had to make a standpipe and raise the end of the hose higher than the sump to break the vacuum. I have the Tunze 3155 osmolator. I love it! Probably the best thing I bought for my tank!

Sorry about posting the picture twice. I'm just starting to contribute after lurking for almost 2 years! Trying to get the hang of it.

Detailed clear pictures of your sump and ATO setup would be very helpful solving your problems.. multiple pictures from different angles is best.

He's clarified that his pump is still running. This is not a siphon issue. This is an issue with the ATO or level sensor(s). Possibly dirty?

Remove the ATO and test it with some buckets to see if you can identify the problem with the sensor, or just replace the ATO.

Well it’s brand new I probably should have fiddled with it before I threw it in there. I’m thinking I’m going to try it on my 40 gal aio where I know how the aio works and I can see if the sensor is wonky. It came with a little triangle sensor and a float sensor but I had no idea how to setup the float sensor because it didn’t come with a manual for the float just the little triangle thing.

That’s cool. Yeah, sounds like the ato isn’t functioning properly.
