Ive been plumbing this sump for weeks only to be let down when I turned it it on. Been running a canister filter for a few months and wanting to switch over to this tank next month. Its an identical tank but drilled for a sump.

The tank is a 90 with a 29gal sump. How do you get it to balance out? I have a jebao 6500 that is dead silent. But even at 30% its to powerful to balance with the gate valve (if i open the gate valve its slurping inside the sump) at the return and it seems like its not pumping that much water to. Not like my canister.

Idk what to do. Its rather annoying. My canister is so much easier. How do you get the balance. There is no help anywhere how to balance the return pump to the intake.

I think im getting to a point where i want to throw in the towel.

Assure pump is not pumping water out faster than it can come into from overflow. The tubes you drilled for siphon break should have been done within the overflow box rather than your elbows and may also be causing this issue

Does the side with the yellow line attached (I presume this is the intake) enter lower than the other side (primary return)?

Is there an overflow box?

I did the math and the jebao 6500 is the pump i need. Unless im stupid. Which in this part of the hobby i fell i am.

Yes yellow is primary.

Your overflow shows one tube and typically there are two but even with one, it appears your hole on top is above the water line and needs to be below the water line to allow water to enter and reach the sump, then you can balance pump output so they work together.

This is on the primary intake.

Ahh, ive used this but really restricts flow and semi-noisy

That didn’t change anything.

My question is did yall go through this to. Like why.

This pump is running like it has no pressure and its still to much for my sump. Im so irritated right now.

It looks like you are trying to create a siphon? This looks like a herbie style. I would remove the bulk head on the main siphon and put a piece of straight pipe with a 90 degree elbow facing down. Turn the gate valve so water is above that pipe, then you will have the chance to create a siphon. You may have to trim the fitting so you have room for the fitting against the bottom of the box…. Should be about 1/2 inch from the bottom of the box.

here’s and example:

The angle is different but the concept is the same.

Idk how I could di that with the box I have. Hardly any room.

The way i see it i have what i have. No way to change the drill holes to anything else as ive tried look at different designs. I guess spending $5k on a a waterbox/IM/Red sea may be worth it. :face-without-mouth:

You will not be able to create a silent full siphon without eliminating air going into the drain. A downward facing elbow will help eliminate the air going into the pipe. It takes a while to tune, but it is worth the time.

thr emergency seems a little high to me.

I guess more brainstorming tomorrow to figure out a downward pipe. Why was this designed the way It was then. And the previous owner had no issues. F M L

How many drains do you have ? Is it two drains and one return or one drain and one return ?

Not to be a jerk but the overfow can not keep up with the pump. The pump at 30% power is more than the overflow can keep up with. It starts to go over the secondary. So creating a downward pipe will create it silent but what about the pump being more powerful. These lines are the same size 1”.

My question ultimately is where is there a guide to get this done easily?
