Sump is Leaking

Thanks guys. Now that I'm downsized I need to do a sump/refugium for the 50g cube that I kept. It used to be hooked into the sump under the 120g tank. At first I was going to do it in the stand the cube is on. But the headroom in that stand is compromised by 2x8 beams used to support the tank. So my wife proposed I get another kitchen cabinet to match the one I'm already using and do the sump/refugium in it. That way I can put the power cords, pump controllers and an auto top off tank under the cube. My wife is the best!

Here is the tray sitting in the stand under the cube as I originally planned it.

Here is the sump inside the tray and I've just siliconed in the divider and bubble trap. Next week I'll order the new cabinet. BTW the sump and the tray are strictly DIY.

I water proofed under my stand. It could hold quite a bit now. I also installed water alarms ;)

This thread is driving me to do something with my stand. I painted the interior with glossy white latex mixed with shellac. With 4 coats on there it should easily handle any spills or minor leaks. I'm thinking now perhaps I should run a bead of silicone around the interior edge to seal it or something..

I did something similar but no drain as if it filled it would basically stop the overflow from draining anymore. I have a basement sump and it sits in a 2x4 tray lined with shower liner. The same stuff you put down before tiling. It does the same thing and keeps any drips or spills from getting on the floor.

I did the same thing with the shower pan liner when I had my 180g & 75g tanks on an 11' stand and an 8' long sump/refugium. It worked very well. I added a plywood wall and run the shower pan liner up and over the wall.
