So I have decided to upgrade my sump tank. But first I have to clean the room out that’s on the other side of the wall. I wanna get crafty with it as well since it will be in view once walking into that room. Would like to get some ideas and all from y’all

In to see some ideas, always planning my next upgrade.. Got a perfect spot on the basement slab to put a massive tank and run the sump in an adjoining room....

I know whenever me and my wife buy our next home I want one with a basement to run all my plumbing to while the display is in the living room or some sort

Very jealous that you have this opportunity! I’ve seen some great looking sump rooms in this group. A few things that I think make a great looking sump area.

  • Super clean layout. Pipes are secured to walls, everything nicely plumbed. No cables or random things dangling. Easy to clean floor that can handle water spills. If you can do the floor like they do in hospitals where the “floor“ curves up like moulding that would be huge. Everything organized
  • Dedicated area for RODI and saltwater production that feeds ATO
  • Work surface and cabinets for testing and storage of stuff. Definitely a sink and a floor drain when things go wrong.
  • Multiple holding tanks for QT and treatment of corals, fish, etc
  • Minifridge to hold items that require refrigeration (and perhaps beverages)

It took some convincing to the wife that it’s a good idea lol. But unfortunately I can’t do all of those at this house but hopefully the next house we buy I can

This is the one I’m considering to go with. Just gotta double check to make sure it’s big enough for my tank

The ones I did see earlier were smaller than the cr44. Haven’t done a lot of looking earlier
You could use a 40 breeder with no baffles. I run 2, one on my 45 and one on my 120 total system.
Oversize skimmer, carx, media reactor, and sock. I had a filter roller but it took up too much room.

I have considered that myself but the only way my wife will let me do it is if it looks great and not thrown together

Do you have a window shop nearby? They can cut you some nice glass baffles, usually cheap. You can go as wild as you want and make it neat and tidy with set water levels everywhere except the pump chamber. Plus, when you diy, you can figure in failsafe arrangements of baffles and pump height to where you will never ever worry about a flood.

I have a Trigger Ruby 36 on my 90. It is probably a little oversized. Great sump though. The one you posted is really good and plenty big enough. Unless you need space for gadgets, look at the Triton 44 (V2). It is about the same size but has a much bigger refugium area.

Personally, socks are fine. I don't use them very often anyway. Get some media cups to put in their holders.

I do not have one close enough to consider doing that without costing extra.

I’ll look into that one

Oh that sucks I'm fortunate enough to have a guy in town but for baffles and other simple cuts I just do it myself because I'm too impatient to call him and wait for him to fo it :'D

That's what I have and it was the best aquarium decision I ever made!!!! I thought about it almost a decade because I hated to drill a hole in our hardwood flooring of the living room but since the deed was done, I've never looked back.

My sump is not a show piece but then neither is our basement. It is however very functional with the RODI right next to the sump and a drain. Water changes are literally 5 minutes with no lifting any heavier than a hose attached to my water station pump.
