I got a sump off fb awhile ago. It was a great deal. It’s 40 gallons. I notice there is a chip in the acrylic. I can feel a slight edge on the acrylic with my finger nail. Can I fix this ? Is it worth fixing ?

I cant tell in the pictures how big a deal it is, but will say acrylic is very easy to diy fix if you dont care about it looking perfect. Some TAP acrylic cement or weldon 4 and a couple scrap pieces of acryclic you can put on the inside of that joint and there should be no concern of leak or failure.

Thank you. I don’t care how it looks just don’t want it to leak. So I should put two pieces of acrylic inside the sump at the joint and glue this with Weldon 4?

You can use the weldon and it will fill the crack if their is one. I would have no issues once its filled in as it forms a chemical bond.
I don’t think there is a crack or hole to “fill in”. So I should just cover the joint with the Weldon 4 ? Both inside and outside the sump or just inside ?

Would you still use acrylic pieces on the joint ?
Most likely no.
Its hard to tell by the pic.
Is it chipped or is their a visible crack.
A crack can be filled in with weldon it flows like water.

Get some weldon and use a needle applicator. If the weldon goes into the chip/crack then it will bond.
If its just a chip then nothing really needs to be done.

After looking at pick one it appears the acrylic has a hailine crack. Try the weldon and see if it fills it.

Thank you very much I will give the Weldon a try. Thanks so much

Agree on weldon which I used to repair similar. Silicone will in no way work or properly bond

Weld-On 4 with a needle to fill the seam then Weld-On 16 (much thicker) to fill any imperfections if they bother you.
What if I can’t get the Weldon into the seam ? I really don’t think I’m going to be able to fill the gap as I can barely feel a crack in the surface.

Do you think it will be an issue if I can’t get the Weldon into any groove to fill the gaps under the acrylic ? I can barely feel a hole or anything to fit a needle in.

Weldon should fuse everything together once applied
Obviously you want to leak test once repaired
