So I ended up going in today. Have been too busy with work to go any earlier. I talked to the guy for a while, and he was very nice and reasonable about it. Saying I was the first person to come in about any issues with fish since he started lowering salinity in the shop. He told me he’ll make it up to me over time, which I’m just happy that he’s wanting to work to right the situation. I ended up picking up a discounted melanarus wrasse, and he said if there’s trouble acclimating him, then he will be changing his salinity back to normal. Glad to be able to keep supporting him

That is a shop I would continue to support. Kudos to the both of you for the way that was handled

Depends a lot on what ‘lowered salinity’ actually means. Vast majority of LFS run their fish systems at or below 1.017 because that’s what fish are coming in at from the wholesalers. It’s actually better that you do the acclimation to 1.025 from LFS because the fish hasn’t been in the bag for very long. If he’s dropped salinity to hypo levels (which I doubt) then that might be a problem. Frankly, flame angels are tricky to acclimate and don’t ship well.

He usually keeps his system at 1.025. He lowered it to 1.010 as of late

Hmmn, that’s odd. I can see no particular reasoning for either of those frankly lol.

It depends on what I’m buying I guess but the stores around me they don’t have much of a selection and I always see dead fish floating in there tanks so that’s a turn of for me . Ps I have never seen so many flat worms in a tank as I seen at my local fish store lol
