Swallowtail (possible brook)

Can I take 5 gallons out of the QT she's in now and use that? I did a water change last night before the kanaplex
was added. Since it's 5 gallons I'm assuming I can use half the packet since it recommended for 1 pk per 10 gals.

If the water is medicated, I probably would just use 5g of fresh salt water. I actually don't know much about drug interactions with acriflavine since I have only used it on it's own.

I know you can use a little stronger dose of just acriflavine, but fungus cure might have other ingredients so to be safe I'd follow the dosage instructions on the package. Unless one of the more knowledgeable folks here says otherwise :)

I've only used acriflavine as a standalone, so I have no experience mixing it with other meds/chemicals. I've tried using it as a long-term treatment (instead of antibiotics); but didn't see any benefit to that, and I didn't like the way the chemical fouled the tank water after a few days. o_O

Luckily I have a kid with mild case of pink eye so he can't go to school today so I'm home taking acre of him and I'm able to treat the fish. She's in the Acriflavine bath now. Not sure but is the water suppose to look like a nuclear waste vat?

Should I get the copper at the correct level first, then add Furan 2 and metroplex?

Yes if you are using ruby reef rally it will turn the water that weird color. No worries.

Start the antibiotics first, then start dosing copper. the infection is likely caused by the ich on his body, but the infection itself will probably kill him faster than the ich would.

Should I wait a certain amount of time after the antibiotics to start the copper?

No, you should start the copper while the antibiotics are going. Coppersafe is fine to combine with kanaplex, furan2 and metroplex. You simply need to add extra aeration to the QT while you do it and be ready to do water changes every other day as directed while dosing antibiotics. You'll redose the meds and copper each time you do a water change into the new water before it goes into the tank.

When you say extra artation, are saying I need another air tube on top of one I have now? Or is one good

When he goes into the QT, you'll want a sterile air tube and new stone for it... a second one never hurts. A small powerhead in the QT will be awesome.

I have the coppersafe, since we think we are dealing with velvet, should I go straight to therapeutic levels or should I slowly raise it over 5-7 days?

Will the Furan 2, kanaplex, and metroplex afrect the copper test kits?

Help, her Doral fin has started to bleed. This happened in the 20 mins since I added the coppersafe and other antibiotics (metro, kana, and furan). What's going on. Should I take her out?

Unfortunately, it may be too late the infection looks to be very aggressive. They need to be addressed very quickly, typically by the time you know what you're dealing with it is too late.. I'll wait for other opinions.

The medications did not cause that, that I am certain of.

Sorry :(

Ugh, I was worried about that fin. It looks like a very aggressive infection. There may not be much more you can do :/ I would just wait to see if the pros have any more advice. I'm sorry...

I'm wondering if it's the dreaded gram negative bacterial infection...
