Swallowtail (possible brook)

I think the bacteria affection is still going. I'm not 100% but it still appears to be spreading. Should I do another Acriflavine bath?

Might be a good idea, and try the topical ointment as well if you can

Just completed the first water change. 25%, brought copper level in water to 2.5 before adding to tank. Did 2nd round of Furan 2, kanaplex and metroplex and fed her. She still has an appetite, she's eating PE Mysis as well as reef plankton.

She's swimming more and more each day. I'm still hopeful. One question I have, is this bacteria contagious? Once I use copper on equipment can it be used on other QT tanks if I'm not using copper?

Daily progress report, Angel (name given) is doing awesome. She's more active, swimming through the pvc I have in the tank and exploring every inch. She eats everything I put in the tank. I'm feeding her 3 to 4 times a day to try and get her fat (healthy). It's hard to tell if the infection is spreading. I want to try and apply neosporin on the wound today. Hopefully that helps. I'm on the second round of furan, metro and kanaplex. Cu level is 2.5 ppm. I will conduct anther 25% water change tomorrow.

Bacterial diseases are contagious. You can reuse any equipment exposed to copper, but you'll need to clean it thoroughly using vinegar before it should ever be used in a reef again.

Angel is doing great. She's active, dipping in and out of the pvc tube. Her dorsal fin is healing. I think the bacterial infection has stopped. She's eating, not as much as I would like but it's okay. Lack of appetite is probably due to the coppersafe. She has been in coppersafe, furan 2, kanaplex and metroplex for 9 days. I'm doing water changes every 2 days also keeping copper levels therapeutic range. I'm a bit worried about the lympho's. They are bigger and not dropping off. I know they are not harmful unless they grow over the gills. How long will it take for them to die off? Not sure if she's out of hot water but she's definitely doing better than she was 9 days ago. Thank you all for your great advice, please continue to monitor this thread because I'm sure more questions will arise as I do daily or weekly updates on Angel.

I've been wondering how she's doing :) Do you have an updated photo?

Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about Lympho besides keep feeding and keep her water clean. If she's not eating a ton at each feeding that's fine, just feed small amounts as often as possible.

You did a great job getting her this far! Keep us updated :)

Here are some current pics of her. Just so you know, she didn't like having pics taking while eating...lol

I know you are coming up on 10 days in antibiotics, but I would continue them if you are able for 12-14 days. Since the infection was so severe.

The Lympho looks pretty typical, I wouldn't worry about that too much :)

Your persistence and dedication to this fish is wonderful to see. Here is another reefer following and wishing you luck!

It's too bad metronidazole doesn't work well on these aquatic gram negative infections. Must be some odd nasty bacteria that is resistant to the Kana + metro + furan mix...
