Since SWC has so many nice cone skimmers, lets share some pictures of them working. Share info on them, and learn about them. Jumping from thread to thread gets tiresome. Here we can read about all of them together. I've got mine on order....so pictures soon to follow.

Here's my 120 about 3 days in. Should I adjust it so it skims a little dryer?

Here's my Mini S Cone after a couple hours of being hooked up (was playing with water level hence the overfill):

It works great, but I need a heavier load on it I think to really get this thing jammin'. Tends to collect a ton of crap on the neck, not as much "nasties" in the cup... yet ;)

stun, that guy seems to do best in 10" water. I had it pulling around 38scfh in 10".

Really? dangit... Premium had it listed 6-10" so I shot for the middle ground when I baffled my sump and made it 8", no way to change it now. I use the PW as I just don't like dealing with MW.

Yea, your getting around 30-32scfh in 8" water. Its quite a change in 10" too. Oh well, it'll still skim well. Atleast you didn't do 6" as it only pulls around 25scfh. The pw is the way to go, mesh is an easy way to burn up your sicce.

Cool, thanks Luke. I suppose if I want to get real down and dirty I could silicone a small extension on top of the baffle, but I might have other plans anyway down the road. First I want to see how this guy handles the tank when there's more of a load on it (so far so good), and I might have a new sump built (waaay) down the road too.

Thanks for the tips man!

Here is a couple of my 160. Its built really solid and its silent!!

This was about 36 hours after firing it up

awesome thread on the skimmer!! can you guys add what size your display tanks are for reference? also your bio load if possible ?

My tank is "183 gals", 48"L x 36"W x 24.5"H, but with displacement likely only holds ~ 150 gals. While running my sump holds ~ 15 gals, so ~165 gals TSV. Right now I consider my bioload low, even though I feed a lot... one sm/md angel, one small anthias, five colonies of Dendrophyllia, nine Rhizotrocuhs typus.

I think H@rry should show us his cone skimmer.

But the real news there is I think.

It does best in 7-10" Its peak performance is 9" where it pulls a little more than 700lph at 30w. In 6" it may be hard to get the foam in the collection cup. I've ran it in 6-11" and i wouldn't suggest 6".

I got suspended from "that other site" for talking about my 160 cone and where I got it from but this thing is the shizzle on my 24x24x20 50G and Luke is a great customer service guy and that goes a long way in this hobby.
