Josh , I think I would plan the system and set the leds over the tank a bit then supplement based on what u think will be best. I think you will want to go a bit more on the actinic side with the T5's. I just got my Reef Radiance 155E and they are running with the blues about 50% higher than the white channel. My whites are set at 20% and the blues at nearing 40% (turning up slowly to acclimate the corals to the intensity of the LEDs). I also wan to run T5/LED combo on my 40B so very interested in this topic and seeing pics if you get there before I do. my issue is height, running my LED 1.5 feet over the tank ..t5 that high seems a bit inefficient .

Recently I've been discussing the use of LEDs and other lights with some good old friends.
I came to the conclusion that what some say here is really true, and LEDs are great when properly used.
I understand/ agree now, as many think, that UV and IR radiation does not affect health and grow on corals and zoas.
The proper use of LEDs is mostly related to the intensity and choice of spectrum to use. Adaptation with the LED light is critical!
I'll be soon trying some chinese LEDs on one of my zoa tanks and will use only LEDs. It is good to think that my electricity bill won't be as high!!!
If money wasn't an issue, as it is for many, I would use metal halides and chiller, of course. But that's just me.
I've seen tanks now using only LEDs for more than a year and they actually look pretty good and with healthy organisms.
Now, my opinion on your case…
I would use all the way blue Plus bulbs to supplement the LEDs. No Purple Plus bulbs. No actinics.
I would add only 2 Blue Plus bulbs for the touch. Great PAR, great bulbs!!!
I think that is no need for more than 2 bulbs in order to add to the LEDs.

+1 x2 Blue and x2 Super Actinic to start. Luckily his canopy is so large he may be able to mount things at different levels.

I will probably mount on the doors of the canopy since they will swing outwards.

With that you'll get the colors you want and growth. All blues and purples will make it harder for you to take pictures. It's not just the blue T5s that play a role, just remember that. Even the T5 set up on your top tank has a combination plus the LEDs as a kicker.

yeah but then stuff will color differently on different sides i want everything to be evenly tanned

Lol. Only 2k. Let me contact ATI maybe they want to sponsor my tank and send me some lights for free lol. My tank would look like a nascar car.
I guess go with 4 ATI Blue Plus and we'll have to set your Apex to come in with the whites so the color can balance for photos.
