Tailspot blenny

Yeah, but I don't really have algae yet. So, any advice on short-term alternatives? Will he eat my ogo ball?
Should eat actual food

Cool, cool. So what should I do? I've tried mysis each of the last two mornings and not a budge.
Too big- brine shrimp, small plankton

"San Francisco Bay Brand Frozen Mysis Shrimp Mini Cube" too big? Shoot.

I added my first round of AlgaeBarn copepods and OceanMagik last night. And I do have "New Life Spectrum Probiotix Fish Food Small Pellet" but they float on the top and he kicks it on the bottom. That is why I haven't tried them yet. Should I turkey baster them down?

Thanks.

You can up the mysis with a paring knife

When I had pellets that didn’t sink I would put them in a small container with some tank water.

Let them soak and swish them around then put them In the tank

I didn't see mine eat probably for the first two months, but I would see him grazing on the rocks and back glass. Now however he is a little pig and eats everything.

I wouldn't worry about food as long as you have some film on your glass/a bit of algae on your rocks.

I have a big ball of red ogo macro in there for starters. But not sure he eats that. I’m going to try soaking the pellets. Thanks for the recommendation. And I bought a turkey baster.

We've had ours a little over two years now and it's always been a good eater; a little too good sometimes. It will pick at our monti undata occasionally. Wouldnt trade it though, cute little thing.

Mine has been a little pig. Eats all kinds of algae but really loves dry food (pellets and granules) and fozen foods too (like Mysis shrimp)
My tailspot is quite an active fish, swims around the tank grazing on algae constantly. They do like some small holes and seem to enjoy sitting inside the empty hermit shells.

Since he ate the soaked small pellets continue to offer those.
Also there is frozen PE Calanus that a lot of finicky eaters like. It is very tiny. You could try it and soak pellets in some thawed Calanus.
As he gets more comfortable in tank you will be able to find his favorite foods. Combining things he will eat (like pellets he eats now) with thawed food @ first to find what he likes.
LRS Reef Frenzy has bits of nori in it. You can let it that and break it up into tiny bit & feed with baster. LRS foods are really nutritious.

My guy hangs out in a hole in a rock the same exact way. It's hilarious.

So my guy dissapeared as soon as he went into the tank. Figured him for a goner after a week. A few months later I saw a fish dart out fo the rocks when I fed the tank and dart back in. To say the least I was confused bc I honestly forgot all about him. A few weeks later happend again. I counted fish, tried to remember all of them I put in the tank and couldn't place what it was. I think it was roughly 5 months when all of a sudden hes just hanging out on a rock ledge out on the open and I was amazed. Guess he found a spot on the backside of the reef to call home for a bit. Now hes not so shy and tends to hang out on the shelfs out front and made a home in a hole in the top of my reef.. he eats like a pig, pics at any algae that grows through the day and goes insane when I feed mysis or my LRS frenzy. Had him over a year now.

Mine is out an about this morning. Atop his volcano rock. Catching some flow. I spot fed him some new life spectrum pellets and he ate. Looks pretty happy today.
