Taking out sand and replacing it

I change my fine aragonite sandbed every three months in my nano keeps it fresh and bright...and my organ pipe in particular visibly loves it

I just syphon the sand out as part of a water change, then use a tube and half a pop bottle to get the sand exactly where i want it with no mess

do you have a build on your tank. I would like to see pictures of that beast.

I wish. I was going to do a build, but the time to do it properly, posting it, answering questions; it would have just taken way too long. I'm super busy with work, and if work from a client or a pitch comes in, it has to 30 min ago so posting each step would have taken too long. It would have been interesting though, I wanted to have all my plumbing and filtration in the basement and the main display on the first floor so to get down there we have to break through about 10 feet of concrete flooring and then the basement footings.

Here is a quick pic of the tank this morning:
- Sand has started to come out as you can see
- SPS have been taken out for the time being until I get the algae under control.
- Only 1 halide is now on for the time being (other 2 are off); again until I can get this algae under control

I'm pretty upset with how the tank looks right now. I am pretty strict on my water change and maintenance routine, and this algae sort of came out of nowhere and all of a sudden.

For reference, the Foxface is about 7" long and the Powder Blue is easily about 5-6". I have a 8-9" Bond Naso who is currently in time-out in one of the holding tanks downstairs because he can't act and play nicely with others.

Wow, that looks like a great tool. maybe you should try 3D printing that and selling it on the internet.
