i have had this tang in my 75 gallon for a year... tonight I noticed these spots.. they almost look like you could dust them off.. then I look and it looks like frayed scales or something and then again.. the dreaded velvet.. I have several other fish in the tank that have been in the tank same amount of time and nothing else has the spots.. nothing has been added at all in the same time frame.. what is this. The tang is showing no signs or symptoms of being sick.. he just ate.. @Humblefish @melypr1985 @4FordFamily @Brew12 or anyone with advice would be greatly appreciated..

Without knowing what it is at this point... diseases can hitchhike in on corals, snails, anything wet. So add anything like that in the past month or so?
Nothing at all.. and after I do the fw dip.. can I treat the dt with prazi if it's flukes? I have two tangs in my qt right now in there 3rd week of copper treatment.. that tank is in a separate room and they are new treating because one tang came from petco and one because it's a Powder brown and I wanted to make sure I didn't have velvet/inch problems

Prazi is reef safe with caution.. it will kill worms, feather dusters, so could spike ammonia if there is enough die off. Definitely monitor ammonia and have water on hand for changes as needed.

Is it possible you cross contaminated anything from quarantine? It's easy to make a mistake. I've picked up the wrong hose before...

Not without it drying out for several days.. but nothing as of right now has ick or velvet.. I have three tanks up and not one fish is displaying anything other than this tang and he only has the spots

Just did the 5 min fw bath and nothing came off.. the tang did great.. he never slowed breathing never played dead.. now what

If you can crank up the whites on the tank and get some more pics, I'm sure humblefish could guide you further. The video was too blue for me to make anything out, on my phone at least.

It is hard to tell from the picture, but are some spots like a dusting with large spots mixed in?

My first thought is that it is bacterial, but some of what I am seeing could be spots on the glass.

I'm having a hard time seeing clearly as well with all the blues. I admit though, from what I can see, my first thought was velvet as well but the timeline doesn't fit unless we are missing something key. Infection is possible as well.

How long has he been this way? No heavy breathing? did it come on fast and full blown?

None of the other fish are looking this way? Just the Scopas? Can you isolate him to a QT for further observation?

Yes

Well that's the thing.. my qt has my two tangs that are going in my 100 long and they are three weeks of copper so far

Here are some screen shots of the tang from the video.. I edited.. I will try to get better ones when lights come on

The way the spots are it looks like ick because they are raised.. but so many of them say velvet.. I'm so blown away that after a year this is happening with this fish and nothing new added to the tank.. no other fish with symptoms.. in this tank I have two clowns, long nose hawkfish, a blue damsel, 6 line wrasse and a marine beta.. marine beta was last thing added on may 25th of this year..
