No matter what size I cut down the nori sheets, how I fold them, roll them into a veggie clip.... my tangs always eat at the base where the nori is in the clip.

Once they eat thru the nori sheet at its base, it detaches and floats away in a 1x1inch square or 2x2 or whatever. Forever forgotten by them.

I think they look at each other saying, "Daaaaah, where did all the nori go?"

That discarded piece floats and eventually gets clogged at the overflow inlet and is left uneaten to rot away ....or until i find it and I have to scoop out the nori glob. Nasty soggy crap.

IS THERE A BETTER WAY TO FEED 2X2 OR 3X3 INCH NORI SQUARES?

I've just about had it with this hobby bc I cant even squeeze out a 5% victory over anything. ANYTHING! Everything is a GD struggle. if i weren't thousands and thousands of dollars into it, I'd turn the temp up to 120° and then drop lit m80s into the water column... and enjoy the Hot Flying Tang Show

Make them browse for it.

I use scissors and cut small strips into all sides of the sheet and leave an area whole for the clip. That way when they tear it, only one strip comes off and they eat that. Has been effective for me.
I've done that in the past with some success. Nowadays I feed like this

Try the Auqa Gadget grazer mentioned above. A little expensive for an algae clip, but works great as the tangs have to pick at it like they would in nature. I had the same problem as you but the grazer has worked well. It has a strong magnet also - my old clips used to fall off as the tangs would overpower the suction cup.

Mine left it alone so long in the grazer that it turned to gunk.

Did they ever find it in the grazer to begin with? maybe soak the Nori in garlic, first time put it in so that a little is sticking out of the grazer, etc. Just so the tangs see it there and recognize that there’s nori in the grazer.

I use a Magnetic glass cleaner, but I too have the same problem. They usually rip the whole exposed piece and then it floats away. I'll usually lay it flat with a little bit exposed, then when they finish that, I'll have to manually adjust the piece.

I use the TLF clip then I fold my nori in half then in half again using the 3x3 sheets. So it’s about the width of the clip but long. Then I fold it I half over itself again so one end is just slightly longer than the other. Clip the fold so it bites hard. The usually can only rip little chunks off and it works very well. Hope that made sense!

Just blend up your nori with the rest of your food and toss it in the tank. Ill never understand the nori clip thing. That was genius marketting on the level of the guy who came up with bottled water.

My kole tang always does that and it ticks me off lol

Hmm... My tang gang is like piranha's with Nori. I put probably a 3" by 5" sheet in my tank, and just float it on the top. The tangs immediately pull it off the surface of the water and tear it apart like a pack of wolves. I don't bother with a clip because it wouldn't last 3 seconds in a clip, so it would be a waste of effort to even try. Sometimes the Nori sheet will get sucked onto a power head, and it's funny watching them swim intently against the current to get at that piece of Nori. Nothing will stop them.

Sorry to hear yours aren't more voracious with the Nori.

Kole tangs only like nori for the outside layer (the skin) They don't eat the pieces often. That's why there are great for glass and rock clean up.

I do the strips and clip method. I just have a plastic clip tied to some fishing line so the whole thing moves in the current. The strips of nori move around like seaweed. My Mag Foxface will rips strips off and he and my Kole tang will play tug of war like a couple of dogs. The Foxface will actually rip strips off if I just hold the cut nori sheet above the water. I don't have a tang, but I know my first Foxface showed no interest in Nori. I got him to take care of my macro algae problem, after he ate all the algae he really didn't eat much so I had to take him back to the LFS.

I double the sheets because they eat it so fast

Yup they just had absolutely no desire to go after it. Probably spoil them too much just using regular clips and rubber banding it to rocks lol.
I've taken to doing like others and cutting it into strips so that when they do rip it off the clips it's just little pieces that wind up getting into the power heads, chopped up and sprayed around the tank for everyone else to feed on.

I should say that we have some aggressive eaters, it wasn't that they hit the algae where the clip is. They will hit it at the bottom of the sheets and rip it off the clips lol.

I'll usually lay it flat with a little bit exposed, then when they finish that, I'll have to manually adjust the piece.
I hope they TIP WELL for you being their personal concierge waiter
