Tangs!

I'm not sure I would try and keep a $1,000 fish in a 4 foot tank, especially when said fish is a tang. Why not sell the tank or trade it for a 125 gallon - barely any more water volume but it's 2 feet longer

If you keep your fish well fed with variety of food and provide them space to swim....you can have tangs in smaller tank like this. 60gal tank.

Three tangs in there for 2+ years...and many more years to come but I decided to upgrade to 120. 4x2x2 for corals growth.

Not to against everyone suggestions but I'm just showing you it's possible to have tangs in smaller tank. Bigger tank and longer tank of course will make them bigger and happier but it's not necessary.

Everyone do their husbandry differently.

the tangs look fine for now, but what happens when they grow to adult size? a hippo can get to 12". sorry, but three tangs in a 60 is asking for trouble.

How long does a fish get in 12" size in your aquarium? 5-10 years. Not sure if any hobbyist can last that long and plus with this hobby you are constantly changing. There are many tangs polices that scared the crap out of people who would love to have some nice fish in their aquarium. If the fish are healthy and eating well...I don't see a problem of having them. If they get too large...trade or sell them to get different one, you are not obligated to just keep one fish for life.

Just my point of view and my 2 cents for people who love fish in their tank but skeptical to get because the "book" said not to.

Not everyone has big tanks, not everyone can have a sump room and no one does their husbandry the same. You do whatever you think is best for your livestocks. Just do it!!!
