Tank 4, Maggie's Eel build

Live rock was a roller coaster! There was some flight and delay shenanigans but I was able to score my box today! Big shout-out to @LiverockRocks for all the help and fixing and dealing with me.

Already found a crab, id'd as a red mithrax crab? A couple snails. Loads of barnacles and feather fixtures

Check to be sure snails aren't whelks. The one I see is suspicious.

I saw the tiny thing too, I'll have to re-up my id skills for whelks. I saw one more that was similar too.

To whelk or not to whelk, that is the question.

It's so small I don't know if I can properly id. But whelks should be darker shell and darker soft parts? This one's shell looks like my other nassirus snails, not quite like the whelk pics I'm seeing. It's pretty small, hard to tell. No sand so I'm not sure on it behavior in that dept.

Wouldn't chance it ,put it in eel tank...;):)

Aww poor lil guy, I bet you're starving then?

I'm reading expert level for it, red finger gorgonian, right? Apparently likes dirtier water, and with it being for an eel might actually benefit if I can get it to survive.

So the live rock in qt tested zero ammonia and detectable nitrates (0.79) so I'm thinking since there's visible life that needs more than just observation, like the gorg, plus all the macro algea, it's probably better for it to get things loaded and situated in the tank. I might still observe it for a bit prior to adding the eel, just to make sure there's nothing amazing that the eel would eat, or something parasitic or not friendly.

Basically just ichin' to get the rock in there. Talking myself into doing it. Ok go.

I just googled images real quick ,looks like both to me ?

Gave it a Google, and let's just say they need to stay in thier shells, OMG what a hideous sight.

But yeah, I'm thinking just another type of whelk. Given the number of barnacles and feather dusters on this rock I am tossing the whelks.
