I try to find ppl in my area to swap with so all of us have our coral in each other's tanks so if one goes down we can restock it but that is not always possible sorry to see this happen :(

I have given frags of a lot of my colonies to local guys. So should be able track them down.

Another crappy part of this crash was I was helping a buddy to rid aefw in his system. We. Cut every base and every dead spot from his colonies inspected all for eggs then did a bayer dip. We did this right before Christmas. His tank has been sps free for a while and we were shooting for the end of frbruary to put it all back in his tank. So the crash took out my tank and the 20 or so colonies I was housing for him as well. He was my main backup guy and had a frag of ever sps from my tank. So this crash took out my backup as well :(

Sorry that happened. That is a huge loss. You can come back from this though. Take some time in returning you will get it back to where it was.

These kind of things do happens, but it always truly sucks seeing all your hard work and dedication gone in a day. I've came close to the same in the past. Nothing like this though. I know what you mean though I was almost in tears after an Alk OD that happened to me. Sorry for your losses. A huge crash in a tank that size is truly devastating. Just don't let it push you out of the hobby.

Just yesterday I came home and started doing a water change and son put his hand in the tank and said it was freezing I checked temp and it was 65 but caught it in time today all look well we will see

This is just incredible, I have no words than just to say SORRY!

As I was reading over your thread and saw all these good reefers posting their positive thought to hang in there.
That alone must mean a lot to you Bobby, but it ain't helping your tank now.
I would say YEAH hang in there and get this puppy running again.
As for the many hobbyist posted here I would say this, if every one can share two frags once Bob has his tank back to normal, we'll make a huge
difference in a man's good heart life.
So what we say?
We got a deal?

I will send some of my SC rare SPS and I have a bunch of them, you can ask Mike.
Not only SC, I got some hard to find other stuff from JF, Tyree, PC, RR, BC and I don't mind to share.
Not all is ready to frag yet but you got my word!

PPL just think about this...................look at your tank for 1 minute...............................close your eyes and when open you see what Bob just experience a few day ago.
This can happen to all of us, so pay forward even if it is just one frag of something you can miss.
Bob, you got this........... I see light at the end of the tunnel again.

Wow. Sorry to hear this. If you need any frags Lmk. Pay shipping and they are on the house !! Sad

This tank just took my breath away. I want to cry for you. I can't even imagine what is going through your head. Good luck. Hope you stay with us all.

SO very sorry for your loss. All of our hearts are breaking with you. I hope you find the strength to rebuild and know you have a community on here that wants to help! We just started out, but would love to donate whatever we can!

sorry for your crash mate. some of the acros in the pictures look severely brown, but not dead. maybe its just the photos playing tricks on me, but any chance they will come back? I think anyone who has been in the hobby long enough will experience a crash of some sort, the important thing is how we deal with it and move forwards. good luck getting things back on track and glad to see you are planning on sticking with it even through the low points.

Very sorry this has happened. It seems to be inevitable when we try to recreate nature with our boxes of ocean.

i can thank you enough for the offer. the hardest part has been watching pieces that it took me forever to track down and then see them rtn almost right in front of me

its going to take some time but i will be back better than ever. once that tank stablizes i will be on the hunt once again trying to find those pieces i loved the most!!

Wow. Sorry to hear this. If you need any frags Lmk. Pay shipping and they are on the house !! Sad

thanks for the offer bud. reef2reef is like my second home and the compassion shown just in this thread proves that we have a great bunch of reefers here

those pics dont show the aftermath of the crash. this is when the corals went brown and just before they went rtn on me. i will try to take a few pics later today of the rest of the skeletons i pulled out and how it looks today. very shocking when you compare pics from my tank thread a few months ago. i was a ble to get a few prized pieces over to hybridazn before they rtned and so far a few might make it. so keeping my fingers crossed. 2 of the ones that were my favorite were the paletta pink tip which is pretty hard to find these days and the tyree purple unknow. which besides the people who got there frags from me, i dont know of any vendors that actually have it. i have to start making the list of what i need to find again

Sorry to here Bob I am sure when you get things stable agian we can help ya out:)

sounds good bud. i thought having a 400 gal system was alot of fun. but i am so sick of doing water changes at this point to get everything back in line but i will get back to normal eventually

Wow, so sorry to hear this happened to you. It might be a little while but when the frags I got from you grow out I'd be happy to frag them for you along with some others.

sorry man, I say we start an insurance pool:) to get frags after a tank crash. everyone dedicates a few frags and boom new reef in one day. I hate seeing dead colonies though really feel for ya man I've had it happened several times through the years.

Great post.

I lost everything last year in a blizzard up here in the northeast. 300 gallons of dead coral and fish. I wasn't prepared for 5 days of no power. I was heating tank water on my grill in pots for 2 days until I had to leave because the house was too cold got down to 38 degrees. The tank is now a fowlr because I don't have the heart or time to bring it back. I bought a 60 cube to use as a grow out tank and have been filling it up.

I understand your feeling of wanting to give up. I would have if my tank wasn't part of our living room.

We have done that locally with a few of us. It may lessen the blow of the crash but nothing can replace colonies that have been growing for years
