Tank Emergency forum

Good catch! An official announcement will be coming soon, but here is some info to answer your question --

Hey! To better serve the community and to make sure threads get the right eyes on them, we are currently working on consolidating all the threads in the emergency forum into more appropriate forums. Right now all the old threads are being moved into the general reef discussion forum, we just started so we haven't gotten a chance to make an official announcement. Hope that answers your question!

Yep! There will be an official announcement but essentially, there were too many threads and not enough people checked the emergency forum to help in a timely manner. To help the threads get the views and answers that they needed, we would move them to a more specific and appropriate forum. This was more or less an endless cycle and so we decided that it might be time to remove the forum but with that being said, we are always open to suggestions and feedback!

In a perfect world, I would wish we had an "Emergency" forum, however, I understand the change- I can't speak for everyone else, but the majority of the posts tended to be about benign topics that were distressing to the new hobbyists, but in no way something that needed to be dealt with in a timely manner. As a result, I spent less and less time frequenting that forum and likely the true emergencies received far less attention if others had the same experience.

Since the issue seems to center around self categorization and "what is an emergency", I'm wondering if the mods could have the ability to tag a post as an emergency? If tagged, the post would be modified in some way to make it easier for the public to see and respond. Just a thought, I have no idea if it's practical or not :)

yes bold print, red tag ,looked couple hours last night ,quick look today?? found one posted in caps, could be a good thing there is none,???agree something should indicate boldly in everybodys veiw:) #MODS

A tag would definitely help, and maybe a warning prompt when you select the tag so people don't use it for everything?

There is going to be an "Emergency" prefix, similar to the prefix's used in the marketplace or in the hospitality or excellence or reef tank 365 awards to indicate a tank emergency.

please be red...please be red..;)..to be read:)

I feel the issue comes down to traffic. There are certain forums that have far more traffic than others.

In the past, I have posted in the appropriate forum for the topic, only to have it get 2 or 3 responses, and sometimes none at all. A repost of the same question to the Reef Aquarium Discussion form, which has higher traffic, gets more views and more responses.

How do you fix that?

poss space on home page with the "red " like award notifcation block??

An announcement before changes would be nice.
