A woke this morning to find the temp at 77.2 with no heater and everything else closed. I guess the heater is broke.

Out of curiosity, you dont have an air vent, window, or anything that would generate any addition heat that is near the tank?

Window.but it’s in the corner and I watched the temp through the day stayed at 77.7

I'd get a new heater and get one with a controller so if it gets stuck on, it won't overheat your tank as it will shut off. I just got one myself as I worry about heaters failing. My area is hot enough that for the summer I just turned it off. With no chiller, I had to leave the front flap open. It has 2 small fans that blow across rear sump. I also rest a 3 speed fan on top blowing down, and used 2 of the zoomed? fans in the front. I use them on the display refugium as well. They are 22 bucks each and do help with tank temps. The tanks do retain heat. When I went to bed last night, tank was at 76.5, right where I prefer it. I closed the flap and shut off the fan on top. This morning, tank was 78. Opened it up, put the fan up on highest speed and it is now 76. House temp is 69-71 right now. Heater is off. Here is a pic of both my tanks. I think I got the 2 hang on fans at marine depot. I have 2 others that need fixing but during the heat of the summer, the big tank
had 2 of those on the front as well as the bigger fan on top. First pic is a cheap walmart 3 speed fan on folded back front flap (egg crate is to keep jumpers in)

Temp is at 77.7 and had a test fish in the tank for 3 days and now I have my four clownfish in there. There going in circles around the tank and checking everything out.

So this is what I need to be safe and to control the temp better? Correct

Even a simple $30 ehiem jager heater would suffice. I was just suggesting that adding a temp controller as well would save you from a possible heater failure in the on position.

Well see I have the same heater because the lfs guy said that it was ok. But I have ordered that controller. Is 77.7 ok for the clowns?

The temp has dropped to 77.5 now should I turn the heater up?
O

My clowns are happy in there tank that hovers between 79.5-80. I'd keep a close eye on those clowns either way

I mean should I be ok to turn up the heater from 65 to inbetween 65-72?

Oh and all ofthem are Ocellarius clowns and pretty small.

I have the standard and Divinci gladiator, midnight, and blacker ice. And a test fish. Clown goby.

Didnt read all the posts but i have reefkeeper with 2 temp probes and it always keeps my temp at 78.5 not as expenyas apex either
