i let my tank roll with the year round temps .. during the summer im run about 85* during the winter i run it about 72* cause IMO fish and corals are used to the temp changes in the ocean .. i know i dont have the ocean in my tank but i always try to make it about what they are used to year round ..

How do your corals look? I cant think of anywhere on the planet that a reef sits at 72 in the winter and then 85 all summer. Both of those temperatures are on the extreme ends of corals bleaching or dieing.

have you ever really looked at water temps around the world ?? Aussie water during there winter drops to 52 .. fla keys during winter 61 .. temps never stay the same un ocean currents .. my corals grow great n never have any probs with anything in my tank .. I dont run a heater or controller ..here is a pick of my bubble n duncans .. plus I run evolution led lights

Plus being a surfer I always check water temps n currents before I travel

No, I dont regularly check temps around the world. I do know that at temps around 85 SPS corals will bleach and at temps around 72 reefers start to have troubles with their tanks. I see you have LPS and Softies in your tank that look healthy. Good for you. I dont know any SPS keepers that would even dare letting temps swing like your tank does.

It just goes to show, no two tanks are alike.

Your right no 2 tanks are alike .. im not a big sps fan either .. my blue hornets an cap Americans like cold temps too water ... I bring water temps up slow m drop them slow never do fast drop outs ..

My tank in the winter stay a constant 77-76. We don't have AC so I have a chiller and have it set to turn on at 80 and turn off at 78. I expect that is what the tank will run at in the summer here in PA.

My sump is in my basement and the basement barely gets heat. I have three 300 watt heaters and they keep my tank around 72 in the winter. I don't really notice poor color in sps, lps, or zoas, but I have almost no growth during the winter months.

74-76 - avg is 75.

I run my tank 79-80, mostly for the consistency. I dont have a chiller and I know during the hot summer months I can maintain 80 degrees, with fans and the AC, so I have the heaters set at 80.
