So there's an apartment I'm looking to get but it's on the second floor. My only concern is putting a 75 gallon tank plus 75 pounds of rock up there without any issues. I have read a few things about putting the tank across the joists? Is that something that I would need to do or dors it not really matter? The building is new. Within a few years old. I know I don't have like building blue prints or whatever for you to look at to get a better idea of what I'm working with but just give me a educated guess here.

......structurally speaking yes because of the way the floor joists are run in apartment buildings and the length of the tank as others have said you will be fine. I would advise putting it against a wall as opposed to doing a peninsula as the joists will flex the least at the point they are joined to the wall.
