Hey Gary I have a quick question. What is the conversion from grams to cups on the zeolites? I just went with about a third but just wondering how much is normal

A cup is a volume measure, so we need to use ML for the conversion
236 Ml is equal to one cup
we use 100 to 500 ML for 27 US Gallons volume
if we take the starting dose 100 ML per 27 Gallons its just under half a cup, so I would use this measure, or you can use scales

So if I read this right. It's not just the salt, but all other dosing components as well. Am I correct?

I believe you have to dose if your reef is growing. It will consume elements much faster and just water changes will not help you out.

I'm currently using calcium reactor and Zeovit. It's a matter of am I paying too much for the same results as others. That's coral $$ :)

If you are running complete zeovit then this will be cheaper.

Hey! I've recently made the jump onto the full AF probiotic train! The only product not currently used is components (will start it once im out of triont base elements), I currently have a fuge since triton base has alot of macronutrition in it for macro algae. Is it recommended to remove the fuge when switching or wont it mather much? @Perry

Fuge dose not work well with ULNS system as there are very less nutrient available for the macro algae to consume and thrive. Once you achieve ULNS your macro algae will starve and die overtime.

I know. Im currently unmeasurable in both no3 and po4 so the macro is pretty much still. I guess trion base and whatever is in it to promote macrogrowth is whats keeping it alive!

Yes, Triton does that but ULNS will not as the whole system will keep the nutrients too low. In case you keep fuge and it utilises the available nutrients then over the time your corals will suffer because of competition.

Ye figured. I know this is way of topic. But what would dosing trion base elements do to the tank without macro? (have like 4 liters left off it before going components)

Good and interesting question. But I will first check an understand exact elements and dosing which will be compatible with AF. AF uses balling and all macro elements dosing is based on components dosing as mixture not individual as triton. So I really don't know how these two system can be run combined. I like experimenting with a system and currently running a biopellet reactor with my AF. I heard people saying it leads to cyano but in my case its actually improving the system performance by lowering nutrient and taking away algae.

Well, its not much of an experiment really. I feel it beeing wastefull to throw away 4 litres of triton base and im planing on discontinuing my fuge asap since my nutritional values are too low :) So in theory i might get alot of algae in the DT from the triton macro elements beeing provided for the macro algae thats not there

Actually I will suggest not to take out the macro algae until you run out of Triton base in that way there will less nuisance algae in the DT and once the elements are over and you shift to a full AF procedure just take macro algae out.
