What's up with the mineral salts in the component 3? Also it seems like this stuff gets used up fast

The mineral salts are all part of the trace elements.

As far as dosing is concerned you need to have your levels set prior to dosing the +1,+2+3. They are made to maintain your system and dosing increases as your demand increases.

For people with larger systems I'd recommend buying the dry goods and mixing the components yourself. It will be much cheaper in the long run. [emoji4]

Hi, i'm thinking about making the switch to AF products. I went through about 14 pages and I'm sorry if the questions have been asked already. I have just a 8 month old small 30 gallon tank. I typically only perform a 10% water change every 3 weeks. No supplements required, yet. However I do add KNO3 for nitrates and feed fairly heavy to bring up PO4. I run a skimmer and nothing else for filtration. So my questions are...

This is for mixed reef with demanding SPS(in the future)

1. Amount of required water changes and why?
2. Do the salts contain silicates?
3. Should I still dose ProBio S and NP Pro?
4. When should I start using Comp. 1, 2, 3?

Water Changes 10% per week with Pro Biotic Salt, you are introducing fresh Bacteria and Vitamins
There are no silicates in the salt mix, Silicates are sometimes introduced through RO in area where the silicates are high
yes still dose ProBio S and NP Pro
you can use 123 when the dKH is dropping between water changes, dose all equaly

if your nutrients are very low, feeding corals is another solution to adding nutrients

these are Amino acids, microscopic calcium carbonate, Lipids and Vitamins

I found LPS are very healthy even with undetectable No3 and Po4 at 0.018

First try to bring your Alk, Ca and Mg at the desired level and then start dosing equal amount of each of the components.

Its not written anywhere if that is included in the components but its in the salt and I think possibly part of their components too. I generally measure it and if necessary I dose once a week.
I use biopellet but I dont see anything good or bad effect on my system.
As far nutrition goes I dont feed my corals alot. So twice a week I generally use Acropower (because its in stock) and AF vitamin. I dont use build or energy a lot. Once in 10 days I use two drops. I feed my fish Larrys coral frenzy and fish frenzy and they are happy.

Hello, This is the middle chamber of sump, has good water flow running throughout. As you can see, it sits in a strainer basket, passive in sump
