If your PO4 stays at 0.02 ppm consistently and you dont have any algae issue then I will not even think of using phosphate minus. What if I get phosphate minus? Then what would be taken out of the equation?

I have some green hair algae but mostly on the glass...If your PO4 stays at 0.02 ppm consistently and you dont have any algae issue then I will not even think of using phosphate minus.
Yeah sometime...but if you add siporax a good amount in your sump then it will help you to create a very stronghold for probiotics and then the system will be more forgiving. But you need to dose regularly to keep it renewed.Amd just sometimes?

Lol....AF is based on two very basic module. One part of that is the components or full balling method and other part is probiotics. Now, they are not dependent on each other. Like I use both part but I really dont dose the amino and vitamin regularly as I dont run ULNS. I possibly use vitality once a week and amino never. Similarly I dose NP Pro and Pro bio S but sometime I do forget and I dont think my system crashes overnight for not dosing. In short every system need time and maintenance. It will take a lot of effort to shift, fix and dial doses too but then after a certain time they will be mostly on their own and you will need like 10 min a day to drop few things and I hope we all can spare that for our reefs. So I have to use all of these products daily on the schedule I posted...I'm guessing this is not the simple way and requires daily attention...

Hey everybody , I am looking at starting a new build of a 60g cube , and I am considering running a Aquaforest tank, and I wanted to ask you all some questions :
Are any of you all running a refugium in your sumps ? Is it not advised or is it recommend with Aquaforest ?
What type of lights are you all running over your tanks ? LEDs , T5 , MH, or Hybrids ?
I am currently going to start my build with a 150MH over a 60g cube 24x24x24in is that a good choice or do you all recommend something else ?
What if you don't use the probiotic? Just the food, vitamins, coral growth and components...is that possible to do amd do something else for nutrient export?Refugium generally does not work well with AF like any other ULNS system. The probiotics use the nutrient pretty efficiently so there is almost nothing available for the fuge. I tried running chaeto couple of times but it always die after very few days.
I use a DIY hybrid with two Hydra 26 and couple of T5s. You can run anything you like.
MHs are still gold standard, the only thing I will like to mention is that AF employs probiotics and its very potent in reducing nutrient level quite fast. So, keep an eye on those levels.
As far skimmer goes anything which works but a little oversize is always good.
What you will do for nutrient export? A lot of us dont realise we actually use bacteria for our nutrient transport. They are always there working and all these probiotics are actually more efficient ones. Its possible to do but you are still dosing all the foods and other stuffs so whats the issue of dropping something else with them? What if you don't use the probiotic? Bacto reef balls? Refugium? Media reactor? What you will do for nutrient export? A lot of us dont realise we actually use bacteria for our nutrient transport. Media reactor for what? GFO and carbon are fine biopellet no. Refugium no just too low nutrient. Bacto reef ball is fine but I will prefer life bio fill as it can also used as matrix for hosting bacteria other than readymade probiotics supply.Bacto reef balls? Refugium? Media reactor?
You are welcome...start slow go slow very slow....Thank you very much Anirban that's very helpful

Life bio fill? Matrix? How would I do that?Media reactor for what? GFO and carbon are fine biopellet no. Refugium no just too low nutrient. Bacto reef ball is fine but I will prefer life bio fill as it can also used as matrix for hosting bacteria other than readymade probiotics supply.
