Thinking on using tap water to start my cycle good or bad as I will end up changing it all after the cycle is done 100 gallons to start the 50% water changes RO for the changes

Stick with RO.

1. Start with good ingredients which means the best water possible, which is not tap water

2. I don’t think such a large water change is ever advised unless there is an emergency.

Not Ideal to start with tap. You just don't know what's in it that may be left behind even after a complete water change.

True that doing the water changes with ro afterwards that stuff wont build up. But some may always be left behind.

Thanks RO it is and some NSW as I am close to the ocean time for some more buckets 100 gallons takes a few to fill but will get it done then the wait

Your buying RO? Is that just for startup, or do your own system for regular use after the fill?

You don't have to make your own, but with a system that large it would be cheaper in the long run to make your own, plus you can add thr DI to really control your starting water quality.

You don't have to hard plumb, if that is your concern. You can just run it off a sink adapter and then store it when not in use.

good idea might have to look into that how long does it to too make 100 gallons?

It will vary with the temperature of the feed water, along with the pressure, the GPD rating and number of membranes will play in as well.

I'm theory (under optimal conditions) it would take 12 hours running dual 100gpd membranes, or a single 200gpd membrane..
