I dont see anybody growing this coral and it brought my attention since its known to be a very sensitive coral for those that have had it, and being that i always love a challenge i wanted to try it again. Its definitely a beautiful coral. If any of you have it or are receiving one from this last TCK live sale post them. I will be doing updates once a month, i just received it and polyps already out.

Awesome! I have one from a live sale earlier this year too. I have it in high light but not sure it’s happy there. Where do you have yours?

From my past experience i have noticed

that it does not like high light at all, all the other people i have spoken too have kept it at very high light and it ends up slowly stn. Im keeping it at 250 PAR for now gonna see how it does.

Maybe @TCK Corals can share how they keep theirs happy and healthy. Definitely don’t want to kill mine off from high light exposure.
Our mother colonies of sour polyps (we have 3 growouts mounted to tiles) are growing under 400w radium halides with reefbrite xho supplementals. We’ll have to get the par meter out soon. They are in our biggest system which is quite stable parameter wise.

The piece definitely doesn’t like a ton of light, and it takes a pretty decent amount of time for the polyps to get the colors back after fragging and healing. The new growth will come in pretty light colored compared to more mature areas of the coral

Thanks for sharing!! I see great encrusting on mine even though it’s near the top of my tank (guessing 350 PAR). Maybe I should move it down a bit just in case...

Maybe the change from MH to LED only the reason some people have had it die slowly on it then, i will make sure to let it slowly acclimate to the light. A stunning piece for sure! Btw by any chance is your new release blast furnace also under the same system?

Photo and a couple vids. Its encrusting great but colors are mostly green.

As long as its growing i would be happy, interesting how the new growth is so light color almost looks like its bleached in a way lol seems like so few people have this coral.

Wow, I am impressed that TCK got involved in the conversation. Makes me glad I took the plunge on the live sale and picked up 3 pieces!

Great score on this Sour Polyps Marc! I wanted to pull the trigger on it so bad but just didn’t want the additional cost for my first TCK order. Glad to see you starting this thread!

My buddy picked up the large double branched Blast Furnace frag and I’m hoping to buy half of it from him. As someone stated, I’d love to know the parameters @TCK Corals has it in as well. I may just have to start my own TCK grow out thread for my order next week.

Looking forward to following your grow out Marc!

I usually see white on new growth before it colors up. It does have a tint of green but didn’t show up in the pics. That said, it could be getting too much light. I had it in 320 PAR. I actually moved it down a bit after the pictures closer to 200 PAR
