tdf the real McCoy

Sold to me as TDF by a local reefer. Whatcha think? I have this in high light and it maintains the green. I've been hesitant about calling it a TDF cuz there's been so many different pics.

I looks like the Original ORA Red Planet and a really nice piece at that.

If you didn't tell me it was a TDF I would have thought it was a Red Planet.

And this is why there's so many TDF out there. No doubt branch/coralite structure is different from Red Planet but you can't tell unless its a colony. Here's my Red Planet.

Looks like a red planet to me too. I couldn't tell the difference beside the color, possible they are the same sp.

I picked up mine from roktsintst. If he's reading (doubt it he's out of the hobby) maybe he can chime in as to the origin of the colony. By the time I heard he was breaking down, he had already fragged up and sold the entire colony. I bought the remaining encrustment. Until very recently it's pretty much just continued to encrust. Mine has a lot of the green color in the base like nuocmam's...maybe slightly more of a yellowish green though.

Forgot to add that mine is getting absolutely pounded with light. It's less than six inches under the surface of the water.

I know what the what the heck TDF looks like but thanks for posting the pic again, I bought a frag a couple years ago from them and lost it last fall or maybe the fall before that when my tank crashed (memory isn't what it used to be and can't remember which year my tank crashed). Your looking at basically quarter inch branches coming off of a base in that picture, it is impossible to say what it is or isnt...but the several pieces I had cut all grew out like that from the base.

I have one from JF and will try to get a good pic of it when the lights come on tomorrow

Well tdf or tenius is beautiful and I agree with you tdf bases like that's but so did the angeline and its hard to tell with branches so small but all the times I've fraged mine its never had a a dished out coralite structure like that

Manhattan Aquariums use to sell the mini colonies of these by the droves before the name got placed on them and everybody had to have it lol..

Here's a frag that I cut off mine for a friend. His picture (not mine) after he had it for a while. Again, this looks different than it does in my tank. He's getting more of the green in the base and his coralites don't look so cupped out.
