Guys,

I have just made my first couple gallons of RO water with my new RODI system, I have this one:

http://spectrapure.com/Aquarium-RO-...ement-Filter Kit-TDS Meters-Chlorine-Test-Kit

OK SO... I take the TDS meter out of the package, brand new, and turn it on. As I'm about to dip it in the RO water, it sparks up and it shocks me! The meter was about an inch from the water, never went in!

I then tried after just putting water in the cap, and again, as I reach the water the CAP shocks me!

Its not crazy bad shocks but they do sting for a little! Does anyone know why this is happening??

Yeah, not sure how that is happening since the cap is nothing but plastic

you bet your butt, Im wearing an oven mit. I can't trust this thing lol!

if anyone reallllyyy needs to see, I'll take the risk and make a video of the shock happening...

The cap cant shock you it has no power in it. Its just a plastic cap. Its the handheld meter itself. I would contact the manufacture and get a new one.
Crazy right? I swear to god the cap itself shocked me as I put it near the water

Are you on carpet possible static? or a power head in the water that could be leaking electricity? A tds meter has a few little watch batteries and the power is so little even if it did short I cant see how you would even feel it.

Water is in this 5gal Home Depot bucket. no outlets really that close that it should effect it

I am not stepping on carpet. There is a rug a couple inches from my feet when I do it but I am not standing on it while using the meter. No power head in it. Literally nothing

The shock is sorta big. There is also a lot of like sparks coming from it as well. It's not like a small shock from touching someone, it's bigger

Thats crazy must say its the first I have ever heard of this I would contact spectrapure I am sure they will have another one out to you in no time.

Perhaps I will try later to move the water to another location...
