Man, the city is going to think I have a pot farm or something. #fishtanklife

This is the same reason why I went with a massive solar system when we built our house. It is a bit overkill for this house but I knew the fish tank and things that I might buy in the future will soon cost an arm and a leg in power bills. On a good day mine generates over 100kw of power

Those are rookie numbers ;)

We had a slight problem with our heating for a while that I didn’t catch due to being stupid and had a lot on my plate with a new baby. Been using 2000-2500 kWh/month for a while:rolleyes:

This was a day where we had everyone at home throughout the whole day and so had friends come over in the evening. Weather was great in the morning but there was a bit of bad weather in the afternoon. Still haven't had a power bill since we moved into this house. Hopefully whatever I am exporting back to the grid during the day will be enough to offset my import from the grid when the sun is not out. Problem is that you only get very little now for the exports.

My fiancé and I are planning to get solar, but we are waiting for the roof to be replaced, so probably a few more years. Our house is fully electric too, no Gas. So would work great.

If you are planning on living in that house long term, always go for a system a bit bigger than what is needed for the house. This will cover you for any future additions to the house. It will save you money not having to rework the whole solar array in the future.

Yeah, thats definitely our plan. The fact that our home is 100% electric, solar just makes sense.

Awesome, how big is the array physically, how many powerwalls?

In addition to my two fish tanks, I have a 1hp pond fountain/aerator for my 1 acre farm pond. That fountain 10 hours a day. The 3 of those add about 60 dollars a month to my bill. I used a bit over 1500KW the last 30 day period and I'm in NEFL in winter. Come August with 2 A/C units it will be signifigantly higher.

47 Q Cell G6 panels. I think they are 350w or 360w panels. I haven't got any power walls installed atm. The way things work here in Aus is that we get credits for every KW we export. So I am waiting to see if my exports are enough to cover my imports from the grid at night and early in the mornings when the sun is not out. If it is sufficient, then I am not going to bother with any batteries but if that is not enough then I am gonna add a Tesla Powerwall. It cost about $13k here is Australia. That is a reef tank right there (the way I see it at least lol)
