The dreaded dinos???

Tanks a little over 5 months. Been battling what I thought was diatoms for 4 months. Only shows up in sand, rocks are fine.

I'm assuming this is really dinos??
If so where is that article about h2o2 and testing to see what type it is??

There are tons if you look around, there are hundreds of not more dyno species. I'd say get some pics first and post them up, will help you ID from there.

Best way to remove it reduce light, already running gfo, skim more, change water weekly, and siphon it off???? Anything else

Stay away from doing a water change the new water will feed the bacteria grab a filter sock vacuum the stuff off the same bed into the filter sock then scrub your rocks down with a toothbrush put in seed it's a good bacteria helps out compete the bad bacteria and do a three day blackout you do not have to worry about feeding fish or corals they will be fine in nature storms happen and they usually go into hibernation mode half to 3 days unwrapped your tank you should be fine after that I had the same problem in my aquarium

Yes looks like cyano. They love sand mainly. Love organics in the sand.

Well that's a good thing it's not on anything else but but I would definitely do that procedure before it gets worse

So I did a 10% water change, vacuumed it all out, changed filter socks, cleaned glass, cleaned sump, and blacked the tank out. Gonna try it for 3 days. Will unwrap on Wednesday.

Will do a 25% water change on Wednesday. Plan on changing socks everyday.

Should I feed fish?? I have a couple anthias amongst others and they love to eat.

Also slightly worried about ph. Usually runs up to 8.1 with lights on and at night with alk dose it drops to about 7.95.
At 335pm it's around 7.94.

How low is too low

That will be fine you're still in range make sure you feed everything before you black everything out
