I have a plate coral that has been thriving for 3 months. After blackout it has never recovered. Think it's on borrowed time.

Getting dissolved nutrients up is the key.

Someone here had a unitary polyp dissolve past its mouth....still recovered!

I would say its def: Cyano...recommendation, water changes .. siphon your bed... I would not change your light schedule, it might affect if live stock you have.. and maybe think of dosing some Redslime...it should help...I have been through this problem... you should be okay...

Could you please help me understand how this is cyano?

When I had dino the more water changes I did the worse it got so I stopped and dosed peroxide and within 3 months they were gone and never came back. The harder i tried to get rid of them the more I ticked them off so I got lazy with them and would only siphon when mat was big or smothering a coral

I never have had any mat. Siphoning off top layer of sand every week. Been better. Still need to continue working on it.

The problem is when you do water changes more often you're feeding the bacteria

So 7 days with no GFO my nitrates which are usually 2 are 5 and my PO4 is now 0.05.

Should I put have as much gfo back into reactor and/or a 25% water change.

For some reason everything looks fine except for all 6 of my acans. They all are partially if not fully closed up. Really weird
