Please tell me you have coffee already.
Yep got that going as I went out to fuel the generator. This mornings post from the electric company says they have 59 poles left to replace before they can start powering up the grid. They hope to have everyone restored by this evening.

Pulled the trigger on a Generac Protector QS38 which is a 38kw LP fan whole house system. Little late but it will be here for the next time.
Yes! After April 27th, 2011 in Alabama my entire family pretty much refuses to have a home without one. 2 weeks with no power or cell signal. Luckily I had taken a break from the hobby then.

I gotta say this. Even with a total loss, you remain positive and welcome new members. Your attitude is inspiring.
Honestly welcoming new members is what's keeping my drive going. It's not my first failure in life and I'm sure it won't be my last, so why not let folks now it's ok to fail, it's important to learn from your failures though.
The great Michael Jordan once said " I am who I am today because of all my failures " that statement has stuck with me for years.

Well lost my last Vlamingii Tang and my Marine Beta now. Sailfin Tang is not looking to hot either. I think getting the portable generator to run the entire system while I wait for the whole house generator to get here next week was a bit to late as almost all my fish seem to be gasping for air. I have 4 big air pumps going to town in the tank and most os the fish are hanging out in the bubbles but still seem to be gasping. I feel I have failed my pets by not getting a generator sooner. In all the years we have lived here we have never gone more then 3 hours without power so it just wasn’t on the top of my list. It’s just heartbreaking to see this.
To all that read this get a generator. Before getting the next new toy or upgrade get a generator to run said new toy or upgrade to keep your pets alive, please don’t fail them like I did!
Oh man sorry for your loss. This is how I felt to after Super Storm Sandy hit. We were the only block to have power the block behind and across the street didn't have power for over a week. I felt like we were in a bubble and nothing could get to us. The only outages we had was the transformer in the backyard blowing occasionally and it wouldn't last long, 1-2 hours before somebody came to turn it back on again, never had long power outages. I figured the inverter in the Jeep is all I needed to get by.
What changed was reading threads like this. I needed to get a back up and not rely only on the Jeep's inverter so I bought a small generator for the tank. The future plan is to get a whole house generator eventually.

Sorry for your loss on the fish. You’ve probably inspired a lot of people to go ahead and make the plunge to buy a generator. Living on the coast we have frequent power outages so most of the serious tank keepers have generators. Good luck with your re-do.

Now you can rest a little. With air conditioning.
It’s going to be so nice having the house back to normal at 70 degrees! It was 84 in the house overnight and I didn’t look when the power came back on but I know it’s 92 outside now. After I get things semi normal for the night I’m so going to the store to get a six pack! Ok Ok Ok maybe a few cases! Lol

Plans today are to drain the system, clean all the death of the rocks, start refilling the system, and re-scape the rock work. Once it’s filled I’ll dump in 2 big bottles of microbac7 and a few pieces of krill and let it be as I leave on a 3 week business trip Sunday.

That sucks that you lost all that.

Hopefully this story will inspire a few reefers to install some type of power outage plan to their tank.
