Ahh so like filter socks or pads but on the return pump.
The preferred place is in the main tank on a powerful power head. But Glenn puts his on the return pump because it’s a powerful return pump to hide it from view. The crucial part is that it’s on the intake of a powerful pump. It filters down to very small particles, much smaller than a filter pad on the overflow water.

I don't see how floss on a pump is better than floss or socks in the overflow. Assuming that the tank has plenty of internal flow to keep the particles in suspension. Just a different way to accomplish the same thing. It may be easier and cheaper for the pump floss.

Just try it as mentioned and see the difference yourself.
Many did.....

Hello Mr. Glenn,
This is my tank info. I havent put in corals yet. My daily dkh consumption is 0.4 dkh. Can I just start with ez trace and thats it? So simple..

Nice .... i wish everbody filled out this stats.. it would make helping eachother much easier.

- You calcium is high, so dosing EZCa is not applicable for now
- Start dosing these:
EZBuffer
EZTrace
EZcarbon

Based on your surplus (149ml) and you current (extrapolated) consumption (5,8ml/d),
it will take ~25 days for you Calcium (without any Calcium dosing) to reach the targeted value (440ppm)

149/5,8= 25,7 days

There is however one positive thought..
Once conditions become better the growth and related consumption may kick in, shortening this time considerably.

Do you know how your Calcium level got that high?

I will buy ez line from seaflower, I can adjust and maintain dkh and calcium levels at desired values with ca reactor. Now are little to high due to cleaning of ca tubes, so I needed to close valves a little. Ok so I start with ez trace and ez carbon? But as I know carbon is to lover po4 and nitrates, I have this 2 ok and I need to add kh2po4 to maintain po4 at 0.04. Thank you!

I retesed calcium is at 475, dhk at 8.7. 3days with ph probe set on more, and consumption was more then output. Now I will re set reactor and shoud be stable 450/ dhk 9. No problem with that.

With Cx reactor you get a little less control over all your parameters.
Before I used to work with both system (cr and dosings) simultaneously

Stuff like B,Sr, K, I, Mg need your extra attention.

For this reason I removed mine a few years ago.

For now I dont have room for canisters for normal bailing- buffer and calcium.. with new wider tank I will have room. This one is 34 cm wide and wasnt designed for reef tank.

Now I will add only ez trace and get rid of al
3 cannisters, thats something. I will leave kh2po4... my phosphates gets depleted in 3 days if I dont add 20 miligrams of kh2po4...

Great! My favorite system with simple equipment without reactorsand no wc. What can be better? Absolutely nothing. Not to mention most beautifull tanks...

You don't need much more than this to be succesfull.
It's not about expensive equipment, it's about effective equipment.

I even have space for garbage [emoji13]

Is that Kalkwasser in the large container?

Glennf so my consumption is 0.4dhk daily, thats 5.8ml ez calcium /5. So I will need to add 1.2ml ez trace daily? Is that correct? That means I will have 5 liters for 11years. With current consumption.. that means I need bigger tank soon...

Kalkwasser can't be used to maintain such a dense SPS tank with a consumption op 4,85dkh per day.

Just imagine what could happen if the dosings stop for 24 hours[emoji6][emoji6][emoji6]

There are 6 dosing channels used
The container contains:
10 liter EZBuffer
5 liter EZCalcium
1 liter EZTrace
1 liter EZCarbon

500ml PO4+
1 liter NO3+ (1:10 dillution)

What size is your tank?
EZTrace was developed to support dosings.
If things goes right the corals will grow and the consumption will increase.
